oh flippin eck......

Booked weekend away fri-tues, campsite called and cancelled this morning as the site is water logged.

Campsite could not apologise enough and refunded our deposit!!! what superstars

contemplating booking somewhere else but looking at the weather for the weekend..... may just stay  at home. i would imagine we would have to be very lucky to get a good site at such short notice.

just realised that we may not camp now till 09.....yikes

feel like this year has been wasted with the weather. only managed to camp in June.

anyone feel the same?

Yeah - and last year was the same. The year before that however we camped in a heatwave - a whole week of gloriously warm balmy weather, im not sure if this just 'spoils' us and we expect the same all the time, or the lovely memories keep us trying and trying for the same experience? Camping in mud, wind and rain is not fun.

Same here we have had 2 trips, 1 in June (we got wet!) and 1 in August (we got wet!).  I'm so disappointed.  This was our 4th year camping and it's been the worst!  The year we got the tent we went away so many weekends and had great weather every time.  What are we going to do ... buy a van?  No way!  I'm praying for a nice September!

We've had several weekends away this year (about 5) and a week in Norfolk.  We have had good & bad weather, Easter was AWFUL, wind, rain, sleet, hail & snow but then we had a weekend at Trentfield Farm early this year and the weather was lovely and sunny.  Most of our otther trips have been sunshine & showers but we have been very lucky that it's never rained when we have pitched or packed away so on the whole we aren't complaining.

We are away again for a weekend next month at Callow Top so hoping for nice weather to finish off our camping trips for this year - boo hoo.

Good on the site for making the call

It would have been so much easier for them to have kept your money & allowed you to suffer a rotten stay.

We are supposed to be going away tomorrow, but spoke to site this morning and it doesn't sound good. They have cancelled bookings for midweek in the hope that the ground will recover for the weekend - not sure if that will do any good as the forecast says rain again today!

I don't mind if we have a few rain showers when we are away, but I don't do mud.

Only managed two weekends away this year because of awful weather. OH is seriously considering a caravan for next year.(Traitor).

There is a site that has posted on the Sites thread saying that one of their fields has dried out and therefore they now have space for this weekend, worth a look?

I would suggest that that East Anglia is the best Region to concider, we seem generally to miss the worst of the rain, it seems to me that the West ia a gamble.

Boo hoo from me too. This is our second official year camping and we have only managed our main week away in Cornwall. OH plays cricket from April til September so we have to try to identify possible weekends where we can get time off work on the Monday. And if he isn't playing cricket it's because he has been rained off- not condusive to camping either! Was thinking about trying to get somewhere for Sunday night but it is really cold and has just started raining again...
