We've outgrown our small tent - an Outwell Oregon 4 - and want to sell it on Ebay as I have done with another tent. Is it worth me putting it on now or wait until the Spring when people might be looking? One option means cash in hand rather than a tent in the loft but are people actually buying any at the moment?

Hi, ive been watching alot of tents on ebay over the last couple of weeks and they seem to be selling. I think people, if they are like me are hoping to have a better sept and oct to get away with august being wet again. It's always worth trying and if youve got a price in mind put a reserve price on, that way if you dont get what you want you could then wait until spring.
I keep forgetting that proper grown-ups can still camp once schools go back! Since my 2 have started school, I find the time so unbelivably restricting!!! It is an ideal 'couples' tent, I just used it for me and the 2 small ones when it's just us camping, but now they're bigger and want to help put the tent up, we can get a bigger one just for us.

Sorry to say I have to disagree....if you can hang on to it...the season is starting to draw to a close so therefore the bargains are appearing in shops for some new ones..but more imprtantly Outwell tent prices have gone up approx 20% next year, so automatically your tent will seem better value next year compared to the new ones available.
The second advice is therefore if you are looking for a tent buy it now...as a retailer any stock I have left for next year is going to be worth 20% more and sure as eggs are eggs Nat West are not going to give me 20% ineterst on my money over the winter so I have stocked up on those models which are not changing for next year and we can either offer what seems like an early season deal compared to the new 2009 prices or just make a few extra quid!!!!
from a buyers point of view I would be looking for a bargain on e bay at this time of year
I have been looking for a tent on e bay but i dont need a tent this means that i can sit and wait for the right tent at the right price, I have watched some very nice tents sell in the last few weeks but I am not prepared to pay a premium just to get a tent now
Why not list it with a BIN price with a submit best offer option. That way if you get a decent offer you can sell if not you still have the tent. I sold both my tents this way and surprisingly I got the full asking price both times.
I just need to give myself the nudge to get it on Ebay. Or pop it in the loft (it's in a tiny bag, takes up no space) and wait in case it gets used as a pup tent one day.
