a sewn in groundsheet is sewn in and is part of the tent and cant be liffted making the tent as close to a sealed unit as you can get

a zip in is fitted and secured using zips and can be removed and liftted to rest the grass  and

a bathtub groundsheet is a loose sheet that turns up the side of the tent a couple of inches and can also be liffted to rest the grass

When we use the awning with the van we use one of the breathable ground sheets.

Would you think it advisable to use one as a footprint/groundsheet for our Khyam tourer which has no sig for the living area bit, and then we were thinking of just a tarp for that small area which could be lifted during the times we were not in the tent.

we have a kyham tourer and bought the kyham footprint / groundsheet which then helps keep the bedroom tents clean and we use picnic mats on top in the living area

Been googling like mad and phoning everywhere imaginable to try and find a footprint for it.  Even checked out Outwell and vango and Khyam tents to see if there was anything suitable but all too long, short or wide.

which model tourer do you have 200, 400 or 600?

I used to have a vango euqinox 800dlx which came with a two thirds size footprint so in the end I cut out, sewed on machine my own full size footprint from a large blue groundsheet from B&Q

400    been looking at the breathable stuff (we have for awning) but it comes out v expensive and if the ground is reasonable wet before pitching will have to also have a tarp for the living area.

All sorts of different combos going through head - found some tarp at good price which if we sew/duct tape 2 together would come up same size so will prob go for that (about £5 cheaper than the sold out g/s too including delivery charge)

We have the Tourer 200 and use the official Footprint... doesn't give a perfect fit though (it's a tad short on length.

we have a tourer  600 sheet (which is the same as a 400 but with an extra velcro on side piece)

a bit short is better than a bit long :)

Was thinking that as well better to be a bit short than too long - we'll sort something before going.

Just out of curiosity - you say the 600 has the extra pod velcroed on.  Does this mena that it's possible to buy an extra pod and velcro it onto the 400 making it 6berth or is it that if you have 600 you have the option of leaving a pod off?  We did try asking Khyam dealers but neither knew what we were on about and couldn't help us. If the 600 can be used as 400 then we may go and get a 600 and sell the 400 on. (hope that all makes sense)

the 600 is the same as a 400 but with a sewn on side annexe to the fly sheet

it is a t shaped tent the length etc is indentical to the 400

if you look at my gallery I will add a picture so you get the idea

(you can leave out the 3rd bedroom tent and there is a side door (but lower height than main door) but you cant leave off the side as it is part of the fly sheet

Thank you   that's very helpfull.

We'll keep the Hartford for long stays and use the 400 for shorter stays and make some sort of groundsheet up for ourselves.  Kew it would be hard to find one as it's an older tent - will still keep looking as you never know where one may surface.

Thanks again

the khyam is pretty much a rectangle in shape so if unable to source the khyam foot print then any 6.5m by 2.5m ground sheet would work
