Oh my god, I am the grumpy tent erector!
Now I explain it like this. My day job is as a manager, so I know what needs doing, tell people what to do, it gets done as I say and everyone knows what they are doing.
We have a large tent which cost a lot of money (to us anyway). The most likely time when the tent will be damaged is during pitching and striking.
I know how the tent has to go up and it's important we do it properly so that it stays up and isn't damaged. I will therefore assume a managerial, although hands-on approach, and ask the rest of the family to do what needs to be done. Sometimes when you are holding on to one corner, trying to keep the tent down in the wind, and need someone else to do something with their corner or need something passed, you don't have time to say please or thank you.
Basically I have my work head on when I'm putting up the tent and don't get into holiday mode until it is all up and I have a beer in my hand.
Mrs Stack finds this hard to accept and treats any instruction as a personal slight. She knows what I'm like and I've tried to explain why I am like this.
I feel somehow cleansed by confessing this to you all. Thank you for listening.
+++++ P.S. I've just noticed I've got another little tent to my name ! +++++++++
I would like to congratulate you on 2 accounts, firstly for getting that off your chest and secondly for getting your 2nd little tent! I suppose when i started this thread i should have realised, my husband is also a manager, so i think, like you, thats where he gets it from!
