Just thought i'd give a little report...
Arrived at the site [Anchorage, Bronllys] later than we had wanted and we were faced with the prospect of pitching the tent for the first time in the rain. We took a spot on a slope so we didn’t wake up in a lake and we ploughed on with the pitching. Tent went up fine and we got all our kit in.
Next problem – cooking. Using all my wisdom from Ray Mears and years spent in cubs/scouts, I erected a makeshift shelter with a guy rope, cable ties and a sheet of tarpaulin. Disposable bbq was lit and we were enjoying our burgers in no time!
The site was faultless – clean, well kept, quiet at night. And the local pub was brilliant – live singer on the Saturday night followed by quiz on the Sunday. Very welcoming and the Brains was gorgeous.
We still need to find a decent table – balancing stuff on the floor/cooler box isn’t ideal! I’m also looking for a more permanent tarp solution too for cooking in the rain. All in all a brilliant weekend.
