We, well I (!) have been considering October half term, because this year it seems my camping trips have finished earlier than normal, and it will be a long time before the tent comes out again, which I am quite sad about!

Definatley wont plan or book anything, if we do go it will be a spur of the moment thing, depending on whether I can persuade the family and what the forecast says!

We dont use EHU, but would probobly be able to borrow one, so we can take a heater and extra lighting.

Will have to start looking into which sites will still be open for October, just in case!!!

Half term is really late this year, so I think it will be after the clocks go back too! End of half term is actually november...

We are hoping to get away mid October for 3-4 nights.  We are prepared for the chillly nights. We would like to go to a campsite which is close to a nice village which does lunch/evening meals.  Any suggestions for the North of England or Scotland?  We have not yet decided on our location

Himself announced today (after finding out that some unwelcome relatives would be coming over the UK) that he wanted to go camping over Christmas 17

I think October south of the border wouldn't be too bad, if it isn't soaking wet.  We might go out at half term - the advantage at that time of year is booking only a day ahead and not several months!

Our half-term is much earlier this year (9th-18th October) but the temperature is supposed to drop to freezing here by the end of the week. Just have to wait and see unless we make a trip south of Manchester!

Tis a shame, we leave on the 23rd to come back home.  Would have been good to meet someone else from this site.

We are going for the half term too.  Not decided where yet - thought about Castle Donnington.

Where's everyone else going?

I always put Karrimats underneath the sleeping mats for winter camping.  It will get quite chilly once the sun goes down and they will really stop the cold from coming up through the ground. We have also discovered that a section of karrimat as a liner on the camp chairs stop the cold from striking you in the back.  Karrimats - I swear by them!

I'm very excited about camping in October! It's my first full week off work this year and was very worried about how cold it may be camping but after reading everyone's comments on here I'm ready to go now!

When is half term? Thinking of going away on the 24th October for a week!
