We are going away for the weekend tomorrow with are children and another family and are so excited. Thanks to this great site we have managed to choose a good tent (Outwell Nevada XL with free carpet from Yeomans) plus the canopy. We've got a coleman raised queen bed, kampa khazi, ufo lights, cadac eazi chef deluxe (2nd hand for £40 and hardly used!!) and loads of other recommendations from here.
I first went camping when I was 19 and we had a two man tent that you had to crawl into and an airbed and that was it. The friends we went with had a bigger tent and a stove and that was pretty much it for them. It rained solidly for 8 out of 14 days in the Alps and my main memory is feeling permanently damp. When the sun came out it was great but needless to say we haven't done it again for years.
This time round thanks to this site I feel properly kitted out and yes maybe we will be more "glampers" than campers but as I read here somewhere "any fool can be wet and uncomfortable". I don't even care (too much) if it rains because at least we have an area where we can sit (this time we have chairs!) and play games.
I will report back when we come home and leave some reviews so hopefully I will be able to add something useful back too.
Thanks again,
Zo.
