Just back from 4 nites camping at Nodes Point Isle of White, this is the 1st time camping for a long time, took OH and 2 children aged 5 and 3.Before we bought a tent and all what goes with it we decided to book a pre-erected tent to see how we and the kids coped. The tent was a nice size a little disapointed that we seemed to be given the oldest one but didn't let it spoil our holiday, we had 2 twins and a double so pushed the twins together and all slept in one room using the other for storage. One problem I had was the neighbours - the man seemed to enjoy sitting in his car listening to his radio at full blast, even when they arrived back the radio was full blast not sure if he and the kids were deaf but surely he could of turned it down when returning to the site, other problem was when they got out of the car it then was a episode of slamming doors. Final straw was on 2nd nite his youngest started screaming at 2am, all you could hear was him telling the child to shut up after an hour of screaming he then decided to put the kid in the car yes you guessed it full blast radio, doors slamming kid still screaming and drive off - peace at last. I finally got of to sleep until he came back thankfully this time radio not on but slammed the door - now I have 2 young children and I know they are not angels but if they were screaming I would of put them in the car sooner rather then disturbed other people
I know it sounds like i'm ranting but please tell me it won't always be like this. I also found that people leave the washing up area in a mess surely they wouldn't leave there own kitchens in the same state?
Don't worry it's not always like that, some people are just inconsiderate.
Did you not complain to the site owners? My neighbours were noisy at a site in Scotland this year and the site warden had a word with them, never heard a peep from then afterwards,
Sounds as though you got the worst of the worst beside you, only once in over 30 years of being under canvas have i had such people , & the next day they were gone , don't let this put you off, try again & hope you have better luck,
We didn't complain as we know it can be hard with kids, not sure if anyone else did as after that they would go out all day and not come back until 10pm when the child was alseep and they put it straight to sleep.
It wasn't just them though on out last nite there was a screaming match going on at 3am, the language was very blue I was glad my kids were asleep.
The toilets and washing up area was also left very dirty, the floor was covered in urine and no loo roll, I was worried my little girl was going to catch something. I actually heaved one morning when I was brushing my teeth and looked down to lots of hair in the sink.
hi it sounds like you got one of those 1 in a thousand campers who have not got a clue about what camping is about, they should have gone to spain on a package holiday,as thats sound what the wanted and not peace and quiet as most of us like in this way off holidaying,I hope it aint put you off as I am sure others will say the same
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
We have been camping for 3 years now and only had our first experience of bad neighbours on our trip last week. Luckily they arrived on our last day so only had to endure it for one night. 2 parents, 3 kids, constant shouting at each other and the father venting his anger by constantly hitting the most annoying child. They really didn't care about anybody else and seemed unaware of the noise they were making. Have to say the parents were worse than the children.
Don't let this put you off camping as most people are very considerate it is just a few that spoil it. (Probably the same ones that leave the dishwashing area in a mess)
Hi, The camp was Park resorts, our neighbours were also in a pre-erected tent. I know we are not experienced campers but I was worried about my children being noisy so made sure I told them to keep there voices down - I thought others would also be the same maybe not?
The other annoying thing was when we checked in we wasn't told about the new showerblock located near the field for people with own tents, we had the porto cabin maybe this was why it wasn't cleaned regulary. Lucky for me I got chatting to a regular camper who told me the code for the door of the new showerblock so we went down there which was a lot cleaner.
I think people who are regular campers know the rule of being quiet after certain times but the few who only go for a cheap holiday i.e pre-erected maybe are not as considerate
