I do think that part of the problem with British people expecially abroad is that we can understand the language. With the french blokes it was just a lot of noise. If they had been speaking English I would have been able to understand everything which somehow makes it worse.
I agree with that Val - when we where away recently one day I felt like all everyone near us had heard was Michael stop that, don't do that and come here when Im telling you off. But to put it in perspective later then same day the German guy two tents away was roaring across the field at his daughter and then a substantial shouting match ensued, but coz I could only get 10 out of every 20 words, it wasn't as bad.
And as for not speaking English when i go past them I tend to put on the strongest faster scouse accent I can manage which usualy flumoxes everyone and gets us asked if we're dutch!
