I like the sense of equality.  Whatever happens we are all in the same boat and at the mercy of nature.  Also like the fact that as soon as you get a tent you almost become part of a whole new (and very helpful, thanks to the guy with the electric extension cable at Ty Mawr this weekend) community.

When you take minimal stuff because you have the experience to know what you need and what you don't.

When among your minimal stuff is that special item you seldom use but it is there at the bottom of the box when the emergency happens.

I haven't cried (yet), but I always feel dissapointed when I wake up in my tent knowing that that's the last night I'll spend in the tent for a little while.

When you've recently bought a tent you love then you go and WIN another fab tent and can't bring yourself to ebay one even though you're more skint than you've ever been.  OH is laying on the pressure and I'm resisting like wouldn't believe.  After all you need a tent for any eventuality.

And, I open up the tent bag every now and then and sniff it.

Mmmm? I think your a real camper when you've had to get up to go to the loo at 4.30am, even though you are quite scared of the dark!!! And you make it back to your own tent in your sleepy state and not back to somebody else's!
