My dad (caravanner for many years) keeps telling me i should join the camping and caravan club, but hasn't yet told me what the real benefits are. Can anyone suggest why it's worth the premium.

How much is it to join? and ...do they allow people with children to join, or does this restrict the sites you can use? We've been thinking about it for a while. We have a tent and 2 children abd love small family run sites with next to nothing on them. As long as they have clean toilet and showers, we're happy! O yes, and we really like it quiet!!
Sorry to but in someone elses post. Was going to start one myself, but see someone got there before me!!

We have just joined It's £35 ish pounds for a joint membership. As a member you pay £6 less a night . So 6 nights returns your joining fee.You need to pay a deposit when booking BUT if you have to cancel then you do not lose your deposit. It get credited to your membership and you can use it on your next booking.I love to browse and have the facility of booking on line. The magazine is also great this is sent to your home FOC.Theres also a scheme where you collect points and then once you have enough use these to pay for a free pitch for the night.Membership runs for a year starting on the date you join. You also get the big site book that has 1000's of sites in it. not all CCC but a great guide

Hi,
We joined the CCC a couple of weeks ago and recieved our pack after a few days, there is loads of interesting stuff to read. i like the idea that the sites have a noise curfew of 11pm and dedicated pitches, so you are not trying to find a free for all pitch amongst 100's of others. there is some great sites to choose from, it might be worth going on their website and having a look around, already booking for October

weve just left the c&cc after 3 years. it was a waste of money as we never used any of the sites. found others much cheaper. it depends what you want out of a site and how many of you are going. it would be cheaper for us on c&cc sites if we didnt take the kids with us.

Dear Atko,
I've never been a member of the C&CC: even though it's supposed to be for both campers and caravanners I've read enough disgruntled campers to doubt it's commitment to us tenters.
A much better resource is this website - especially the site reviews. Since I started basing my choice on these reviews I've never hit a bad site. I especially will not touch a site that declines to have reviews reported.
The fee discount needs to be set against the annual fee.
And to cap it, sites that have flat and sloping pitches always seem to give the sloping ones to tents (ever tried levelling a Vermont?).

Hi all
Well I have been a member for a long time and they have done and are doing things that I disapprove of.
But as to whether it is worth been a member you must ask yourself this, have you ever been to a site that was not up to standard, were you were kept awake with revelers,Were people played loud music day and night.and you did not like it, then the answer should I join the C&C Club must be YES,
Regards
Rex.

If you want piece of mind that the site you are going to will be well run and the showers and loos will be clean and tidy, and you want to meet friendly people , then join the C&CC.

We have been members for 14 years,The plus points are.1) spotless toilets and showers.2) noisy and drunken behaviour is not tolerated.3)You have to wait to be shown to your pitch( we have always been given a choice),there is no free for all rule.4) We like the securiy of club sites, never had a problem leaving stuff in the tent or forgetting to lock the car.5)As we are over 55 we can camp mid season for under £12 a night( 2 adults and electric).
It all boils down to what you want from a campsite and how many in your party and when you want to camp.I know it can be quite expensive in high season if you have kids.

We joined for the first time this year and I am still debating if it is worth it.
I had hoped to get away to a few certicicated sites for the odd weekend over the summer and spring but with the weather being as it was we only managed a couple of nights at Kingsbury and a couple of nights on a Certificated Site (£5 per night).
We also used CC&C to book a campsite and tickets for a trip to Disneyland Paris which was easy and hassle free. We booked our main summer holiday in France independently as well as the ferry for the Disney trip because it was cheaper.
On reflection I might give it one more year and hope for a better spring and summer next year and be able to get out to more CS's - especially now I have bought a porta potti for the "own sanitation essential sites".
