My tent is still pitched in our front garden since our overnight camping trip last weekend and I don't know when we will be able to get it down either. It just hasn't stopped pouring down all week and I need the husband to get it down and away but he's away on business until Sat when apparently the weather is set to get even worse! Coupled with that we are having extensive building work at the house and they are digging the front driveway out today with the builders a bit peeved that we haven't moved it, fortunately our front garden is quite big as it couldn't go in the back garden as thats a building site. I just hope that it survives all this weather battering!
Can't the builders give you a hand to take it down? You don't want to get it covered with a layer of building grot after all. Not to mention the potential for it getting damaged.
Hi Val, they did offer to but its sopping wet torrential rain here at the mo so its too wet to take down and we've absolutely nowhere to dry it indoors. We've removed the front guy ropes and pushed the front of tent back in line with the front pole which takes it right away from the firing line and the builders have agreed not to dig that area until next week we just need a day of no rain now typical!
We pitched our tent on Sunday night.......and its still up in the garden, looking wetter than when I packed it away!! Its chucking it down at the moment, it could be here for another week!!

Been to Weston,Grendon Lakes, Sherwood forest,Westbrook park and Port Eynon twice this year!
ours is currently spread out as much as possible in the shed, waiting for a day to dry it outside as it is bigger than any indoor space (plus it's VERY muddy). If this weather doesn't let up we're just going to have to pitch it anyway so it doesn't get smelly and mouldy.
Well our tent has been up in the garden since we came back from bruces cave on 18th august!! We have not had a sunny day yet where its dried out enough to take it down!!
And now its lovely today and its dried - yet there are black clouds gathering and i just KNOW it will rain before Rob gets home from work. Also I STILL have my wrist straped up (ARGGGHHH) and not sure i'll be able to be much help to him.
Ours has been hanging over chairs and a bookshelf in the spare room to dry out and we keep turning it over every morning and evening (it's a royal biarritz 6 so it's huge - we lost the dog under it at one point!). the inner tent is spread out on the floor in the loft and it is drying, slowly but surely. We are going camping next weekend so by the time it is dry it will be time to take it out again!!!
Oh, I've been there once or twice when we've been garden camping. Put the tent up in the garden, spent Friday and Saturday night in it, leaving it up Sunday with the intention of taking it down when the kids were back at school on Monday - and it is still up weeks later.
I had our Sunncamp cottage up in June - got it down when it was dry, but needed, but didn't get the bedroom sections folded properly, and away, as the groundsheet was wet. Still waiting to get them away.
Normally we would have spent some time garden camping, especially during the school holidays. Not this year. Just been too cold and wet.
We got our tent down Thursday evening!!! The guylines ae a bit damp and the fabric loops that you peg it down with aren't 100% dry, so we haven't packed it in the bag yet, its neatly folded in the garage. Couldn't believe how wet/dirty the bottom of the SIG was, so I've just bought a footprint groundsheet to stop this. I think that I don't want to pack it away, as I know that means its the end of my camping year!

We have been advised by outwell to pack the tent away dry and if the guy lines are still wet ( as we have found they take longer to dry) take them off the tent and dry them seperately. Tried this and it's sooo much better. It is a bit of a pain re-tying them on, but it's so much better than having to leave a whole tent out, whilst waiting for the guy's to dry!
