I've got one but it's only suitable for warming stuff up...

I cannot agree with this statement.

The Lidl one at £19.99 cook's food with a temp range from 100 to 250 degrees.
With its glass door and fan assisted oven, it is perfect for camping.

If you use it as a grill it takes ages for anything to cook.

Admittedly the grill is slow but we only do toast on that or brown the top of pies, pizzas etc.

We were in 2 minds about getting one for camping and actually let the first offer go. Now I wish we had got it last year when we had the chance.

You can buy these small ovens in Wilkinsons and they're only £14.99 in there!

Do these exist, I have seen the standard hob on top and grill underneath but not an oven with a griddle or do you mean a griddle pan?

No...I used to have a small oven of this type and whoever designed it thought the heat being lost through the top of the appliance could be put to better use by heating a griddle on top..I've not looked but assume they would still be available somewhere.

We have 3 yes 2 with 15 minute timers not really any use except warming, then found as new kenwood at a boot sale for £2 with a 60 minute timer which does the job.

Word of advice check power consumption, i would not advise buying one over 1800 watts or you will trip ehu.

Another option is a chicken rottisserie up to 3 hr timer, good for small joints and kebabs also.

hello folk

I have a mini/grill oven similar to the one at Aldi. We have just spent four weeks in Ireland in our trailer tent and it was a godsend. Rained all the time, no barbies. ( we have had a Cadac for years). this little oven can make toast - slowly, warm it up first, we mainly used it to heat frozen or chilled ready meals but I also cooked chops and chicken in it. What we have always missed most when camping has been no way of heating/cooking food that normally requires an oven, e.g. pies, pizzas.

Easting out was expensive over there so it really earned its money. Ours is just 800 watts. Some of the sites we were on only had 6amp electrics and it was no problem. There are similar oven up to 1500 watts.

We tried to buy  a similar oven from Argos and Wilkinson in May but both were out of stock. I found ours mail order on the internet. It was worth the postage.
