Hi Happy campers.

We have just got back from a wonderful DRY  yes DRY i say again DRY weekend at a fab site just outside Cambridge.

We left home in the rain on friday afternoon ,after my last post (Gap in the weather i'm off) i could not have gone and let the side down. The rain stopped just as we arrived on site and the sun (do you remember that big light in the sky that makes you feel warm)came out, we got the tent (Buck palace in canvas) up and sat down looking over the Cambridgeshire countryside with a coffee. Inlaws arrived and the weekend started, we made some good friends as we sat outside the tents and had a few drinks in the evening. It was a bit damp the first night but when the sun burnt the mist off on saturday morning and the ground dried out you could have been forgiven for thinking it was the summer. Sunday morning we woke up to wonderful sunshine i needed to put my sunglasses on to go to the showers, the dew on the tent had gone by 9am and after a nice cooked brecky we saddley had to pack up and go home but the nice thing is the tent got packed away DRY ready for next year.

I know a lot of you replyd to my last post and was looking to get away, i hope you was not put off with fridays rain and went and had a wonderful weekend.

Thank you, I`m feeling better now!!! It has been cleaned of by my terribly patient OH and is fine.

I`d have put up a big fight if my kids weren`t sleeping in the tent.( I think that`s what worried the OH)

Having said that..Friday teatime to Saturday evening were wonderful.....and all said, its a lovely site....just needs to vet its clientele..............mmmm maybe I won`t get in then!!!!

Gutted that we couldn't get this weekend, bought a coleman columbia 10 man tent off a friend...last weekend couldn't go due to horrendous weather. This weekend daughter and friends daughter chocker with cold....both just started full time school so didn't want to risk them getting worse due to bad weather!!!!!
Then its bloody gorgeous all weekend...well to pacify kids took tent down to seafront and put it up on some grassland!!!! Needed to do this so we know what were doing this weekend...what a laugh we had!!!

Can't wait for this weekend now

Hi all,

Having been so disappointed with the weather last weekend, and cancelling our pitch when we didn't really need to afterall (pesky weathermen getting it slightly wrong), it was with intrepidation that we went ahead with this weekend.

I was mainly concerned for our friends who were coming with us as it was their maiden voyage, and last weekend wouldn't have suited them.

So back to Friday, well how wet was that?  My friends actually called to say that they had again cancelled their pitch based on the rain we were experiencing Friday.

However, all signs of the rain clearing were looking promising and I convinced them that we'd all be OK to camp Friday evening.

And there we were, blessed with a glorious evening, until the sea mist hit us.  However, this soon burned off Saturday, to leave a cracking day of warm sunshine which we enjoyed as we crossed Stiffkey Marsh and the beach to Blakeney, as we picked out some fresh cockles in the sand, and then viewed the local seal community from a distance.

Today was again dry, but not as warm as forecast, but hey, you can't win them all!!

What a lovely weekend!!

I must admit, as I watched my son play in a football match this morning in mild, dry weather wiht the sun causing problems for the goal keepers, I did find myself thinking that it would have made a nice weekend for a camp.

Oh well.

Hi Nick,

Hope all is well?

We had a great time thanks, beautiful location, weather kind, good food and drink, and very peaceful.

Poochie is snoring away after a busy weekend playing with her school chum!!

Shame you're rapping up your gear so soon!!

All the best!!

Tony.

Good on you all getting away.
I sat at my desk at work on Saturday wishing I wasn't at work, but off camping.
I'm hooked after one weekend away! (we're going next weekend)

Aparantly we are now in for some nice dry mild weather - about time too.

Saturday was lovely here - but Sunday was very misty early on, and didn't really brighten up till mid afternoon.

Let's hope that it is nice at half term- which is our next big outing.

We should have been going away at the begining of the month for a friends birthday - but he tried to get into several sites within an hours drive, to no avail.   Even the one that doesn't seem to care said that they were waterlogged.

My OH and I decided to ignore the wesather forcasters and go to north wales anyway....glorious weather if you like mud baths and constant rain.  We never stopped laughing...even if we did spend a lot of time in the drying room.

Don't let the weather put you off...camping is just an excuse to be a kid again

Left home Wednesday under grey skies. Wondered what we would be in for.  However. arrived in the dry and pitched and set the awning up.  Only rain we had in four days was Wednesday night.  Glorious sunshine the rest of the time and lovely moonlit nights. we were at Woodbury not far from Exmouth.  Had agreat time.

We had a great time at Bay View in Pevensey, lovely sunshine, lovely beach, lovely, lovely park.

Shame about the blokes that came out of the pub each night and shouted their mouths off! Shame about the person who had a very sensitive car alarm at night time and shame about the couple in the tent next to us who decided to use their squeeky foot pump at 3am.

Thanks to the bloke who very quietly and patiently said 'can you keep the noise down please?' to the drunken guys, god knows how you sounded so civil!!

Why can't people just be quiet at night time?

The sunshine just made all the night time unpleasantness fade away though.
