Just phoned to enquire about a site to be told the pitch size is 6m x 4m.

Anyone think this is a bit small?

Even our Khyam (tourer 400) won't fit on that.

Is that the pitch size or the maximum unit size.It is even tiny to pitch your unit on.C&C Club maximum unit size is 9m x 5m.I think the C&C Club pitches are roughly 10m x 10m.
If thats the size they quoted you then they are being greedy and I would give them a wide berth. They are trying to cram as many units in as possible. Its a sign its coming up to half term again

I though it was even smaller than club pitches too.

he said they had plenty availability???? No wonder.

9m x 5m would be fine

That seems a bit odd my sunncamp tent is 630x410 so i would be a bit stuck. No room for a fire break between tents and almost sounds as if health & safety will be an issue

I think the woman on the phone must have told me the size for awning pitching.

OH going to ring again the morning when they open. Reviews are saying large pitches????  It's Brighouse Bay in case any of you have been.

Would be struggling to get my 4 berth Tipi on that and the pegs would be on neighbours pitch.. Are they kidding? Wouldn't be room for the car, either.

Pathfinder is 6m x 4.5 with the awning and we have never had any bother on a pitch. Guess you get to make friends with the neighbours that way.

Can't say we have ever had any trouble with pitching anything before (though many on here have said they do). Going to measure the car tomorrow and see if that will fit on   I'm convinced she got it wrong.

Thant's very small. I would have major problems pitching my Vango Aspen. Speak to site owner and check if they gave you wrong sizes.

Delamere Forest C+CC have told us 5 meters sq for half term is max pitc, our Gelert Horizon is 720 x 240, so if we go have to downsize, thinking of cancelling, but really fancied Go Ape next door.

Are they being stingy?

5m square!!! Surely thats wrong, you would just about get a utility tent on that.It equates to a pitch size of 2m x 2.5m.C&C Club Maximum unit size is 9m x 5m.

OK - phoned back this morning and yes it is 6m x 4m on the ehu field, no exceptions. Will have to pay for 2 pitches if your tent is over that size. No other tents booked onto the site at all for that week.

Tent is 6.55mx 4m

OH phoned back and asked to speak to a manager and was asked what about. When he replied 'pitch sizes' he was told that it was the manager who had made the rule but he could speak to him if he insisted.

Manager explained that he had made this rule because of pod tents taking up too much room then adding windbreaks etc. OH said he fully understood but that 6x4 was even smaller than club sites. He said they had 2 other fields that were non ehu and any size tent could go on there and pitch wherever they liked. 6x4 was not taking into account the guy ropes so that made the actual pitch bigger.

The outcome was that as our tent was only 4m wide then he wasn't too bothered about the length (within reason) and agreed it was OK for us to pitch - especially as there were no other tents booked in. hurray!

Still think 6m x 4m is a vedry small pitch - but do understand reasons for it (along with the fact you can get more on the ehu field and smaller tents are less likely to use as much electric as larger ones!)

I think llot of the sites are making their pitches smaller and smaller to get more people on especially in high season which is when i have to go. I originally had a large Khyam that i couldnt fit many places, my Khyam Tourer 600 its tough and go where i can camp, most c&cc I've had to phone but they will except us, but alot of sites i've called have said i need to book 2 pitches!

Though watch out on large pitches, we camped in one and our tent fitted on the pitch just, next door had a large tent as well and we had 3 Inches between tents!

I fully understand why they limit pitch size and have absolutly no problem with it at all and there are plenty of other sites to choose from so would just look for another one in the area I wanted to stay who would take our tent. Can see the point of getting max return in peak season (thye are running a business after all) but whats the likelyhood of having to turn people away the last week of October (on a Scottish site a week after the Scottish school holidays) becasue someone wants ehu with  a 6.55m x 4m tent? (we got an ok for it in the end so all is well)

I just thought that this was excessively small and that many of us would have problems with this size pitch - even with some 2 man tents. Our Khyam tourer 400 wouldn't fit on the pitch either.

(just realised this sounds like the start of an arguement but I did not have this intention and apologise if it sounds that way  )

i understand these people are running a business, but surely if we 'the tenters' dont enjoy being cramped in, then we should speak with our feet and not book with them. I wonder if they are making the area for touring caravans smaller too, i bet they wouldnt dare.......
