Dear All

My husband and I have just taken up camping and last weekend we tried out our new Outwell Bear Lake 6. We loved it. Easy to put up and our dog took to it like a duck to water

We now wish to start purchasing other equipment airbed, cooker, cooler, table and chairs etc read for our first proper trip next May

Please could anyone advise us of good value place to purchase this equipment

Many thanks

I've found lots of odd bits & pieces in our poundshop, woolies etc - trawl through all the camping sites as lots of them have end of season clearance items cheap.

It's soooo addictive - I only started this summer & am totally hooked already - so much so that I can't bear to put everything away and am going off for a few nights at half term!

Look out for camping exhibitions around the country next summer. Loads of bargains to be had. I went to the one at Wokingham. Got a Khyam Freelander DLX for £150.   Got one of the single gas burners for £8.95. So chuffed when I saw the same thing in Argos for £19.95.

I heard some people got even better bargains they were so busy they forgot to charge for some of the stuff they had gathered up and taken to the makeshift till at the doorway to the barn.

I purchased a load of stuff and he most certainly didn't charge me for everything. Also as he couldn't be bothered or just couldn't he rounded everything DOWN to the nearest £ to make adding up easier. I reckon that knocked about £6.00 quid off the stuff I paid a total of £50 for.

Here is a linky thing.
I luv a bargain me. http://www.campingcentreexhibitions.co.uk/html/exhibitions.html

We buy stuff for camping from anywhere we find it whenout and about.

Lots of things have been from recommendations on here and other stuff we have had for years from caravanning and just use it with the tent.

Thanks for the advice

It is a bit worrying - this addictive bit - I think we have already caught the bug

On return I couldn't wait to get on the net to starting looking for equipment

We have agreed that we will be fair weather campers but I have got it floating around my mind that I would like to go again during Oct half term. Haven't broken this news to my hubby yet!

Many thanks

EBay, carboot markets, Poundland , Argos and Asda. . The stores have cleared their shelves of most camping stuff so you'll have to wait till next spring. Don't let that stop you from making a list and tracking them down. You will find it addictive and spend hours hunting down bits and pieces!

I have used the following places to buy items:

Yeomans - tent, carpet, groundsheet, chair, kitchen and bits and bobs

Go Outdoors - table and electric cooler

Aldi - blankets/throws, another kitchen stand, cutlery, trays etc

Local camping shops for toilet, lights, table

Ebay for bits and bobs as well - I think I must do a 'camping' search every other day

Tesco and Morrisons for airbeds - but I wouldn't recommend them sadly (mine both went down)

I am sure if you let people know your location they will advise on some local retailers that you may not know

Yep its very addictive but I love it!

Have a look on the 'Equipment' forum for lots of suggestions and ideas http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_forum_topics.asp?ForumID=6

As well as the tinternet advice I gave, you'll find yourselves looking at all sorts of things in every single place possible that 'will be handy for camping'

I don't think the advice should be where to look but rather how to stop looking.....in my experience looking involves putting your hand in your pocket because it may come in handy lol

Have fun!!

Make sure you check out the Equipment forum before you part with any of your hard earned cash.  You will get loads of tips on just about everything you could possibly need, and very often someone will flag up a great offer from a certain store.  I've found Ebay to be a bit pricier than the camp shops when you add the postage on in general but an occasional bargain can still be found!  Good luck x

Hi jennydog
When you choose a table or tables as you will require more than one buy one with adjustable legs there is no such thing as level on a camping pitch. also check the carp anglers sites for chairs, beds, and sleeping bags, they sell the best.
Google camp furniture for a choice of fittings and if you have any cash left don't forget you will require a trailer to take it all on .
All the best.
Enjoy your camping
Rex.

I've found www.dpbolvw.net/click-1428744-10475506?url=http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk to be really good on price and next day delivery most times I've used them.  We had a problem with an Outwell table that we had bought from them a couple of months before - they said no problem we'll courier another to you, just hand the delivery guy the old one.  Definitely worth looking at their site to compare prices.
