I have just bought this one through the Kirkcaldy Caravans firm.
It is sold from Pyrimid-products.com and after looking at all 5 X 3 trailers sold in the UK, this one is by far the most superior one for the price that I have come across. It even has a tipping facility for easy loading and unloading of heavy objects.
We also found that our trailer was too small due to the purchase of a frame tent and have just made an extension for our ERDE122 from 12mm exterior plywood. It has added an additional 50cm depth to the trailer and if I can get OH to download some pictures I will post them.
The extension is also waterproof thanks to 5 coats of varnish and lockable
It's a man thing! I bought a 5 x 3 trailer and being an engineer and having a great boss, raised it's height by 500mm. Just manages to fit our stuff in now. Aswell as a 7 seater Zafira and a 500 litre roofbox.
I show everybody that comes to our house "my trailer" much to the annoyance of my beloved.
Having been looking for a trailer to replace my 20+ year old 5x3 for some time now, I too was looking for a bigger one but found that there really is nothing for the domestic market made.
You have to go for a commercial trailer (mega bucks) to get anything of a decent size.
For me, building up the sides is not an option because unless I also upgraded the suspension and wheel size, I would be scared of overloading it and causing it to become unstable.
The Titan (pictured above) is designed to have a payload of 375Kg and is plated as such. Adding sides and perhaps a top would alter its designed payload limit and I am unsure as how I would stand if I was involved in an accident, either from a Law point of view or the Insurance.
Either way, you can bet your bottom dollar that if the Polis are doing any trailer checks, the ones that will grab their attention are the ones that have added on bits.
I'm considering making a marine ply lid for my trailer but am stuck. I need four snap shut thingies, don't know what they are called. Very difficult to describe but they are like a buckle which takes up tension and then you snap shut to make a firm closure of the lid. Does anybody know what they are called and where I may purchase them ?
We had the same problem, but lets just say my OH attempt at a wooden extension wasn't quite so neat as some on here! lol
Sold our trailer on here when we brought a folding camper, thats sold too now and brought a new tent, prob be getting another trailer soon, will def make sure its a big one though this time, some of them you can buy high side kits too.
We bought a trailer about 2 years ago now, when we realised our estate car and roof box where just not big enough for the increasing amount of gear we seem to get.
We bought the biggest we could afford at the time and it has been the best money we spent.
We got a daxara 198 with a hard lid like the one in the picture, and leave it in the garage packed and ready to go whenever it looks like the weather is gonna be good for the weekend! We have just bought the load bars too and four used bike carriers so that we can now take all the bikes with us too, 1st trip with those on the top is a week on Saturday down to the new forest, can't wait!!!!
