We were planning to put up our new Outwell Bear Lake 6 this weekend, (not used it yet so wanted to check it's ok) but with the weather forecast not being great it's just not going to happen. 

Do you have to weather a new canvas tent? I have looked at the Outwell web site and didn't find any info!! and why do you weather a tent?

as above  its always best to weather a pollycotton/canvas tent,we weathered our outwell trout lake in my parents back garden with a hose pipe set on a fine spray and then left it to dry totally before packing away and that includes making sure the guy lines and the thick ribbed part around the air vents above the windows were dry too,our camp shop as do outwell themselves advise customers to weather these types of tent prior to use...

saying the above we bought the pollycotton extension after we bought our tent and didn't have time to weather it but on its first outing in a rain storm it was fine with just a small mist coming through,after it had dried  and the fabrics had pulled togeather it was fine there after...

we did have a very heavy rain storm on another camping trip and i mean very heavy rain and there was a very fine mist but nothing to worry about in the main tent,i was worried it was leaking but my dad said it was fine and not to worry...
