Mmmmm  that's a difficult one.

Lots of the area was flooded yesterday and Wasdale Head Show was cancelled for the first time since 1920 something or other because the ground was waterlogged.

Thing is, it could all be perfectly OK by half term and the ground all dried up. Weather today was lovely and you would never know that it had bveen so bad yesterday.

I wouldn't cancell just now but I would be on the look out for another site - just in case.  Give them a ring nearer the holidays and see what they say then.

Got a bit worried for ourselves as parts of Dunfriesshire were flooding too and we are heading up there for half term in a tent just like you.

Certainly hoping to get there in the next 2 to 3 weeks - only work will dictate exactly when!

We plan to go for October half term but haven't booked. We are going to ring in the week before. The problem is you can never tell what it will be like one day to the next so we will go unless the site report it is seriously waterlogged. It doesn't sound like we will be the only ones braving it out!

We will be very disappointed if we have to go elsewhere and even more disappointed if we don't camp and have to take a last minute package somewhere.

I live about 20-25 mins from Eskdale and my advice is to ring and book nearer the time. The rain around here has caused a lot of ground to be waterlogged and flooded. It may all dry up and be fine for half term, but if the rain continues on and off, the ground may not be that good.

Good to hear the site dries out quickly, in that case we might go whatever the weather. That's the beauty of this forum you can find out such useful bits of info!

The only problem for us is the distance it's a long way to go to spend the week in the pub we can do that more locally !!

Everybody only seems to have good things to say about the site (and the Boot Inn!) so we really were hoping to make it there.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks great detailed forecast, can't argue with that!!!  Forecast rain from the day we arrive until the day we  leave and then we can look to the wind to blow the wet right into the tent, not to mention we won't be able to walk in any direction that goes up - excellent. Why are we even considering going?

It feels like we should be re-thinking but you just never know if it might be ok and we always seem to make the most of it.  Thursday will be decision day!!

hi helen we will be there on the 24th 25th and 26th so unfortunately probably wont get to say hello. I wouldnt bother about the forecast the montys a sturdy tent but a pain to dry if packed away wet!! Thats why Ive down sized to my present one. If you havent been before you will love it and if the weather forecast is bad the site will be that much quieter!!! also more room at the bar in the two local pubs both of which are very good.

Cheers
Chris
