Oooooh you have a Camplet. Very cute. OK, OH is new to camping (I grew up with 2 weeks of front-room clutter before evey camping holiday) so it's me, me, me, all the way. Thanks Mum. But I kind of like it. As one post said - that way I get what I want. Sorted.

I research the sites, I buy the tents and equipment, I make the lists, I pack the clothes, I pack the car -we'd only get half the stuff in if hubby packed it   He drives to the campsite. I unpack the car on site, I put the tent up with a little help from hubby sometimes. He blows the airbed up, fits the roof liner & erects the kitchen unit & table, whilst I sort everything else out.

I would love to do the cooking, but most of the time he insists that we go out for pub meals - that's the nearest he ever gets to providing me with a meal  He does all the driving while we're there - except when we return to the campsite from the pub  When we strike camp, he helps to take the tent down, I repack the car & he drives home. We empty the car together, then the next day I do all the washing, cleaning groundsheets etc., sterilizing the water carrier, fridge etc. and pack it all away.

Okay, I do the lions share, but I don't care, I love it anyway

My hubby does a lot more than me. We both research and decide on a site and get all the kit together. We also pitch the tent and set up together.

He Buys all the kit and spend hours scouring and researching new stuff, packs the car and drives and also does all the cooking while we are there. He's also the one that takes the dog out at the crack of dawn. He also pays for a lot more of the pitches than I do.

We have camped for years now, and have given advice and help to newbies and others on campsites for years too.But we have got more advice from others in Ukcampsite in the short time we have been here than we have in all the years before we joined. All your answers to any questions are here if you look for them  Brilliant  Don't know how we ever camped without the assurance of Delta pegs ,and cooked without the luxury of a Cadac. Never had to use the Clingons in our emergency kit yet, but we have lent them out to others in need.

Lol, It wasn't like that all week. I managed to get it sorted a few days after arriving when OH popped home overnight to work. When he came back next day it seemed to go a bit messy again!

OH turns up on the holiday and thoroughly enjoys himself LOL!

Actually, if we bought a new tent he would be interested, and he does most of the driving and ALL of the washing up - so can't complain too much.

Setting up/packing away we share - and we are finally getting to know who is best at which bit, so the arguments are getting less.

I do all the planning and booking, so often our final destination is a mystery to him as he will have lost interest half-way through me discussing my research and not realised what the final decision has ended up.

I think i do it all.  OH is useless, so i normally just send him off to walk the dog or something

I tend to leave him behind most of the time anyway!

I don't think we would get away if it was left to my hubby.  I think I'm more in touch with the types of places which suit our young family and to get the really good places you have to get in early so I book our main holidays 9-12mths ahead.  I pick the dates, do the research, ferries, gear etc.  Hubby would just turn up on spec but I couldn't do that.  I must be doing something right though as we're yet to have a bad holiday!

He sorts the currency, packs the car, packs our clothes (he could get a small car into a suitcase) and is in charge when pitching the tent.  Mind you packing and unpacking the car puts him in a foul mood if I could do it better than him I'd do that myself too!

The balance here made me think of of those American "surrendered wives" who would say "You decide, honey" and leave all the shopping (except groceries), bill paying, holiday booking etc to their husbands, which always sounded to me less like surrendering and more like a ploy to get husbands to pull their weight. I bet it led to a lot of red bills, horrible sofas, and lousy holidays in a lot of families.

I research kit and places and buy or book ( having said "this is what we're doing, OK?" and received a vague "OK" in response), he packs, I repack where necessary, he repacks again where necessary, he drives more, and he cooks. Not a bad deal, I suppose: although the planning is time consuming, once it's done I get to kick back a bit more.
