Thanks for the advice folks. I used to keep it in the attic but got annoyed at having to drag it up and down the stairs every couple weeks so when we got the trailer I thought I'd leave it in there. I wasn't expecting to see so much condensation.

I might use the salt trick but in a open carrier bag as it's on a bit of a slant and I don't really want damp salt on the tent as well. :D

I hope it's fine but I don't fancy struggling to put the tent up myself as the garden is only just big enough to take the tent and the lawns are still soaking wet. It was hard enough trying to dry the tent to put away earlier in the year.

Perhaps you could just get the tent ouf of the bag and try to have a look at the fly without putting it up?

Another thought - perhaps the tent could live up in the attic over the winter and in the trailer during the camping season?

Phew!!!

Got the Tents out of the shed today and opened them all up. Thankfully not a sign of Mould. A bit smelly, but nothing that a good airing will not get rid of. Managed to get 14 binbags full of rubbish out of the shed too.

That tends to be our approach, we leave whatever tent we are currently using in the trailer during the season but everything gets stacked in the dining room the rest of the year.

my cabanon was in the shed, found that the rooflining had suffered from some mould damage, was most upset, it now lives in the cupboard in the spare bedroom, the canvasses anyway, the poles are still out in the shed, with the rest of the gear.
moving to a new house soon, it has an enormous airing cupboard, will be fantastic for storing my tents in!

We have one tent under the stairs and still can hang our coats thank goodnes, and one Bear Lake 6, poles and all behind our sofa (you can't see it).

we only store camping gear in the garage during our camping season. Too much money to risk it getting ruined. Rest of gear goes up to the loft during the winter and this has worked out perfect for us.

On the question of storage...Ive got so much stuff (camping and fishing related) that I am considering paying for storage this year!!! I can hardly get in my lockup for anything..without climbing over it all...Memo to self...Must get organised this year and have a tidy up.....

when i got my christmas tree out of the loft i found it was just as bad a leaving it in the garage!! so my mum now has the "spare" mattress at hers and the tent and other mould attracting equipment is now under the bed. i do worry that i will get the damn thing up and it will look and smell awful. what do you do when you find that mould has attached itself to your tent??

Our tent is in the shed. OH is supposed to be bringing it in for the winter!
I have managed to get a couple of sleeping bags in and put them under our bed as we have one with drawers and it has massive gaps at the head end and back of drawers.

We would never compromise with our tents, if it's a choice between stacking them against one wall of the bedroom or leaving them in the shed to get damp there's no choice, our babies sleep with us
