when our eldest daughter came round to collect the twins  4 yr old boys who we have each Thursday, she casually asks "Er ! Dad you have two tents? would you lend us one? (um credit crunch) well they also have another lad aged 7 so that's at least a six berth needed. luckily me and the Mr's we don't do cramped and a 6ER was offered.

cut the story short! I'm now looking at sites for brakes in the school hols (my god they have you by the short hairs on fee's), so making sure the have all they need,

well you do don't you!,   just ordered 6 more delta's and wrote a blow by blow on how to pitch the tent. and that with Grans sudden found " look how cheap and useful" and we don't need two tents let them have it! they will end up better equipped more than us.

also she's no idea on these behind the scenes actions, but I will just love the look on her face when I hand over the package   + a link to this site which should have another convert asking us the In's and outs for 1st time camping.

I  bought 3 tents last year ,all very big 6 or 8 berth ones.  and only one child still at home. DH very rarely camps with us.  My other 3 kids now have kids of their own and thats one of the reasons why I have all  these tents, so that they will be able to use them too.

My daughter and her 2 girls camped with us this year.

The other reason being I just can't help buying them, but when asked why ? when another one arrives, I just say it'll come in handy for you lot to take the kids camping.

Nice to see the offspring carrying on the camping tradition. I myself must be a bad mother as I have just had a telephone call from my daughter announcing they have just bought a CARAVAN!!

Well with us it was the other way around! The offspring got the parents camping! LOL

My mum always says she isn't sure about camping, but once she gets there she secretly loves it! I'm sure my dad gets upset when we go without them.

They did buy the large tent that we use when we're camping together... so I guess I can relate to the erm... depending on mum and dad... And they have bought most of our camping gear over the past two Christmases... Well, I'm an only child... they can't help it! LOL

Anyway, hope you have a great time camping with the family! I wish I'd been able to camp when I was younger... It's so exciting even now I'm in my 30's!!

ah yes! camping with Grandad. well I suppose I can say to their mum ! when I bring the kids back (or they carry me back) we had a great day sorry about the scuffed knees, wet trainers, and torn shorts. but boys will be boys 

My Dad also gave us his frame tent in 1978 when he bought a bigger one.  We camped together for 15 years until he died in 1993.  He could never have guessed when he gave it to us what wonderful memories we would store up and how close he would become to his granddaughter because of this one, generous action.

Now we take our grandson with us when we can and are building a new set of memories.
