Nelmo, very interesting reading your posts as I have done over this year!  Your experiences have been spookily similar to ours and we have just done our first trip too.  Same thoughts as you (especially kids and breakfast!).  However I think it's worth it and I've got this theory that when we go for a longer stay (2 weeks in June as well!) we and the kids will get into some sort of relaxed routine.  I certainly hope so as I'm wondering how anyone keeps 2 and 4 year olds quiet when they wake at 5.30am?  Hang in there and thanks for sharing your experiences.

I thought I was being clever creating a long tick list - it worked well except I have now changed the definition to be a 'tick-only-when-the-item-is-in-the-car-and-not-just-because-I-saw-it-on-the-worktop-last-night' list

That way, I won't forget to pack the camera I left charging 'till the last minute...! Or the crocs I saw in the cupboard but didn't actually take out...!!

Thanks for all your other kind comments - we've got a week booked in August and we're going for another 3 days in June, so hopefully that will help smooth out the creases...
