I love my monty 12 but unfortunately have to sell it as it is just too big for what i now need. I think it will be missed as tbh there doesnt seem many tents like this on the market, Yes there are plenty of big tents but not many that sleep 12 and that still have plenty of living space.
i've just been browsing to see what the Monty 12 is like, we are looking at a Nebraska XL but still undecided! We want a porch big enough to cook in, does the Monty12 give you this? Many thanks - Lx
somo3 - if you want a Nebraska XL you'd better hurry! I bought one last weekend after hours and hours of research. It was the porch that swung it for me, and the weight of the steel poles (had a nasty experience involving my Khyam and a huge gust of wind. I'm going to get some Delta pegs, too). It appears to have been discontinued, though, and lots of the usual stores are out of stock. I think it's the ideal tent for a family.
No the monty 12 does not have a porch - i have a seperate kitchen tent so i cook in that. Apparantly the vermont side extension does fit the monty 12 tho.
We've recently bought the Georgia L. That is also on it's way out of the production catalogue. Had a very hard time trying to locate a shop that still had one. There were so many things about that model we liked and we could find nothing similar in their 2009 line-up.

Thanks for your advice, before i take the plunge as I havn't seen the Nebraska in the flesh, we have 3 children 10, and 2 x 8yr olds, will there be ample room and is it really heavy? Or does the weight of it not really matter as its such a fab tent? Many Thanks Lx PS as comparison our current (very ripped and weather worn) tent is a Wynnster Satellite 9

I've got 4 kids (at home!) - 11, 10, 7 and 16 months, and although we haven't camped in the Nebraska it's got more space than our old Khyam which we found had plenty of space last summer - first time camping with the baby. It's solid rather than heavy! I think the 5000HH fabric and the steel poles make for a more stable set-up in inclement weather!
The Maryland is not a like-for-like replacement, which is a shame. Have you seen the size of it? It's vast!
Thanks for that info, i think we'll just have to go for it. If this summer is anything like last year a solid tent is what we need. We lost ours last Summer but can't complain as it had done a good 15-20 camps is 3 years! I like the fact you can get the extension as well for the Nebraska. I was looking at the Maryland last night, bit too pricey for us tho'! Thanks again
well you were right shorticus! the nebraska is hard to track down, but like you, after hours of searching we now have the nebraska XL on its way to us - i just hope it'll be ok, i'm sure it will. Thanx for everyones advice - L
