we have just sat and watched a few vids on youtube showing us how to pitch a tent the ones we watched was from camping shops or manufacturers its funny how its always on a lovely day, we have only been camping a handful of times and each time it's either windy or raining or getting dark or all three.

I wonder what its like in there world it must be lovely 

Yeah the weather sees me coming too.  If you do get lucky with the weather it is sunny all week and then tips it down as you pack away so then you have to spend the next week trying to dry everything.

This is why camping is so character-forming.

Those wooses in vans & motorhomes don't know what they're missing.

You mean you've never had the pleasure of packing away a sopping wet tent. It's one of the big highlights of my camping holidays.

I remember 3-4 yrs ago setting off on holiday to Yorkshire..Warm glorious sunshine all the way down south till we got to Borughbridge  and it started chucking it down!! As we apporached the village where the campsite was...I skidded on a corner..went right across the road..and me/son/car/and TT ended up in a corn feild...No Injuries or damage done...and with the help of 2 RAF guys(from local base) we were soon on our way to the site a few mins away..On arrival we sat for a while to see if the rain would abate...as it didnt..and we were wet anyway(from our exploit in the feild!!) we set about pitching the TT...An hour or so later soaked to the skin and totally dispirited..I was ready to pack up and go home..Son talked me out of it...and after a good towelling..and a change of clothes we made our way to the site pub/resturant and treated ourselves to a slap up meal and a couple of pints (for me)...Had left the heater on to dry the tent out and when we returned the TT was nearly dry..and toasty inside...we went on to have a great weeks holiday...But those 1st few hours are possibly the worst of my camping experiance EVER!! Except for the time (Again in Yorkshire) where We had to dry  the whole family off in the cafe at Flambough Head after packing up in torrential rain...But that is another story..for another time

 We had the pleasure of packing up in the pouring rain last year and hope never to repeat that experience  EVER  !!

Must try camping near good old Sussex by the Sea.....
