hi just been looking at tent pics, and cant wait to get back out there, although this year i will be a pregnant camper, last time i was pregnant we had a caravan which obviousley was a bit easier, we then got rid of caravan to go back to camping, we do have a camper van, but still like to go out just in the tent, any tips or advice would be gratefully recieved??

I did it until I was 7 mths pregnant, needed some help puting up the tent but apart from that no probs and business as usual - mind you it was interesting to see me roll off the airbed in the latter months.

Remember to take a bucket for these endless nightime calls to the loo, and some sort of small stool to keep by the airbed to lever yourself up on plus to sit on to put on your socks..

I was camping on the monday, gave birth on the friday. You would have to go a long way to get so far from a hospital in this country that you couldn't cope with any emergency.
We were camping in a small 2 man tent. Didn't at that point need extra space because we had yet to discover how much stuff babies need. In retrospect having a tent i could have walked into, rather than getting down on all fours and crawling my swollen belly into the tent would have been nice. I didn't get the best of sleep. Who does days before they give birth? A toilet inside the tent would have been a luxury as babies head was making me go every 2 minutes. But most importantly get the bed right. sleeping right down low on a cheap air mattress was the killer. Just physically getting up off the floor was awful and don't get me started on back pain. Having said that, even with all those things to contend with it was a lovely time and a great way of passing the days before birth. Felt wonderful being out in the fresh air and sober whilst camping? An amazing revelation!!!! In later pregnancies me and my OH would love to exploit our fellow campers by turning up on site, where I would step out the car, put my hands on my back, stick my belly out front and just wait. Never failed, within minutes some lovely camper would have me with my feet up sipping a fresh brew whilst they helped OH put the tent up. In fact talking about this I can't believe I've only had 3 kids!!!

If you get a airbed that is the height of a normal bed off the ground you will find it easier to get on and off it.

I camped pregnant this summer....well, all of about 2 weeks pregnant (and at start of the holiday completely unaware of the extra camper!) but still!

Just got to convince husband that we'll be fine taking  few-month old baby camping this summer.  I think it'll be far easier than with our 3-year old whirling dervish!

Hi I camped 3 times through pregnancy in 2007.  My most important piece of kit was definitely the bucket - in the early days because of morning sickness and later on (latest camping was at 30 weeks) for nighttime toilet trips.  Otherwise it was business as usual. We made the most of it with our then 3 year old before little one came along! Despite the horrendous weather that year.

Hope you have some lovely times and good luck with the pregnancy.

(Mrs Grifterman btw in case you were a bit concerned!)

I camped at 8 months pregnant. Jay wouldn't let me do much to help him though lol. Not having a loo was a pain as i was waking at night a couple of times to go to the loo! Also had a bad back and the chairs we had at the time had no backs in them and i was in agony after a bit of sitting in them! Had no problems on the airbed though. I would say to get a porta loo and have comfy chairs to sit in. Good luck.

Ditto to what has been said about the toilet, I was pregnant last year and that was the most valuable asset in the tent. Also, I did all the prep work at home on the food, like slicing the buns and tomatoes and such and it was so much easier at camp.

One warning though is to be careful when camping in fields or even your home gardens due to the threat of toxoplasmosis (sp?) and take extra care during lambing season, you can ask the owners if there have been any losses during this time to help decide if you wish to camp there.

We camped last year on a farm and the feild was covered in poop, hated it. I was a nervous wreck and went through a ton of cleasning gel and soap. So just be extremely careful and take cleansig gel with you.

Oh, and congrats on your pregnancy! Our baby girl is almost 3 months old now.

I did too, only prob I had was terrible acid indigestion, not sure if it was due to food I ate (bbq couple of glasses of wine (naughty) or the air bed!!
