Having looked through a few posts on here and buying some new equipment I really, really want to dust off the tent and pitch it. We've got a new footprint that needs reducing by 40 cm in length and eyelets attaching. I need a large area to cut, sew and put the eyelets on. Obviously it's got to be done before we go camping but...I wanna do it now. My only problem is we've had a conservatory built and the garden extensively decked and now there's nowhere to pitch the tent!!! Do any of you pick a large bit of grass and pitch????
Do you have a local park? Or failing that, a village hall, school hall, community centre that you could 'borrow' for a few hours? I remember cutting my huge lounge curtains years ago i the local school hall - they were happy for me to use it after school finished while the cleaners were working - worht a try?

Is there a local camp site near to you? When we were Managers we had several people came just to pitch their new tents but not to stay. We certainly didn't mind as long as we had the space and were on hand to give advice if needed. They often put a pound or two in the charity box but we never asked for fees.
We have an old abandoned factory site round the corner from us. its ideal as it is completely flat. completely concrete (apart from the cracks in the ground). No rubble, nothing. just a big bit of open space. Ideal to put the tent up (found a bit on it to peg out too) then take down, fold properly and all without a single bit of muck. If you have a local park nearby, i would use that.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.
The happiest people aren't the ones who have everything they are the ones who make the most of everything they have
Ooohh Dezzie...where OH works has a lovely strip of land beside the factory no concrete etc. We could try pitching it alongside there! What a fab idea. I didn't really fancy putting up in our local park...Chav Central!!!!
