Just bought Vango Kura 800 and can't wait to try it out with the hubby and 3 kids this weekend. The cold doesn't really bother me but never taken kids at this time of year - Is anyone else contemplating camping at this time of year with or without kids? and can anyone advise what best sleeping bags are for very cold weather?

HI.
We just got back from 3 days in Suffolk and must say we had a great time. the weather does not bother me either but just remember that the temperature can drop considerably at night so make sure you have suitable clothing for the kids.

We use a 3 season envelope style sleeping bag with a fleece sleeping bag liner for our 7 year old and use fleecy pyjamas and an extra blanket.
He sleeps like a log! and never complains that he is cold.

It is the third time we have been away at colder parts of the year and although we take a fan heater with us we find that we don't really need it at night and just use it to take the chill off before bedtime.
You can have a great time camping at any time of the year as far as i'm concerned. Whats more, you usually get the pick of the pitches and never have to queue for the showers at this time of year! lol
Hope you have a great time...

If I didn't have other plans I would go this weekend.  I think it's even cosier when you can all snuggle up and keep warm in the tent.  I sometimes make a hot chocolate on our single burner just inside the tent and this gives out just enough warmth to take the edge off.

I am getting so restless now, i put my tent up in the garden on saturday and now I just want to go!!

Enjoy your weekend - it's certainly better than being stuck indoors watching the rubbish that is on TV of a weekend!!!

we are off camping this weekend. we do tend to start our adventures at the end of jan.

for warmth we do what MOLLYJESS does and use a small stove in the tent to make warm drinks with, it adds warmth to the tent as well as something delicious to drink (do not do this if using a pop up tent as there isnt enough room)

We also use some really good 4 season sleeping bags which only have an airing come the winter months when we decide to camp.

Have a great weekend

I also go camping but wear a beanie hat to keep warm and an extra blanket does the trick over a modest sleeping bag.regards richard
