I have a cheap hanging rail from Argos.  No castors and I don't adjust the height so its a bit more rigid on uneven grass.  I only use this when we go away for our annual 2 week. We used to use suitcase but OH had a habit of leaving his dirties with his clean and its was always a mess as he always rummaged in it. Holdalls were too big.

Weekends or short breaks its a holdall each - complete with a photo of who's stuff is in which bag! OH can rummage in his own clothes with his own smelly socks!

Had a wardrobe but got rid as it was a pain to assemble and pack away again. Now mostly use individual holdalls but if we use the Espace that has a couple of great wardrobe bars, being a frame tent.

We have the hanging rails (see gallery). We leave the base together and then it is just a case of putting the side poles in and the one across the top. Takes all of about 5 seconds. It is also good for fitting in the car as it is all poles so slides into places you might not get other things.

I'm another holdalls person.  The kids have one each and hubby and mine goes into one.  TBH I am usually the only one who gets clothes ready and put out anyway - more so that it stops everybody else rummaging around!!!  We usually have a sack where everybody puts dirty stuff etc and that just gets chucked in the car at the end.

Not sure I would have room in our tent for one of those hanging rails - I would like one as we are planning to go on a longer trip this year so maybe I should buy one to try it out.

Sue, I like the look of those Ikea rails - does the actual rail fold into pieces to fit into boot - I could squeeze the poles into little spaces - if I have many spaces left!!!!

Niki, the hanging shelf just ties around the hanging rail with the attached ties, the shelf units are 30cm wide and the rail is 106cm wide.(slightly less between the uprights)

We have one hanging shelf in the middle and coathangers either side.Or you could have two shelf units and a smaller coat hanging section
-------------------------------------------------------
Debbie, yes it does take down into six sections.

If you still prefer holdalls I spotted this in a Land Rover accessories magazine today.
a large holdall with three smaller bags in side, they call it a travel Trunk.
Land Rover Travel Trunk

its not cheap though - £67, be great if another luggage manufacturer produced something similar for less.

The IKEA idea looks good, especially at that price............anything's good at that price.  At the mo, we take all the clothes in a big laundry bag, then i take those pop up laundry mesh bags for each of us (know what you mean about rummaging through clean and dirty washing) and one for the dirty washing.

Best wishes Sam

Went down to Tesco and they are doing similar shelving in a wipable plastic for £3.00 on offer, difference is that these have backs to them, which according to the picture on the Ikea website theirs do not, There is also five shelves, bought some to check and they look pretty good, can also wipe them down..

We have tried various different bag type things.

Once  upon a time, the kids all had one of those £2 canvas type checkered laundry bags, and in that they had to put there clothes, there sleeping bag, pillow, and blanket; if it didnt fit in it didnt go! But they took up way to much space in the car!

So now me and hubby share a large holdall, and the kids have one each, just a small plain black value holdall from tesco. Other items just get packed around other things in the car.

I do like the idea of the clothes rail, but then it means you have got to take hangers too!!

Sticking to holdalls for now!
