So, when retailers sell their products at the end of the season at a greatly reduced price they are selling them at a loss ? Don't think so !! It's the same with campsites, their costs remain the same regardless of the time of the week / time of the year. It's market forces and they literally make hay while the sun shines. They know folks are desperate to get away so they'll stretch the market to breaking point. OK, they MAY take on extra staff but the increase in their rates cover that cost many times over.
Just playing devils advocate here but.....
maybe they don't charge MORE at high season - maybe they charge LESS at low season
