Just back from my sat / sun camping trip minus one frame tent. There was no mention of near gale force winds on my local forecast. Sat night was a lot colder than Sunday, even with the very strong winds. The tent actually collapsed just as I was about to take it down, one really strong gust. I had already cleared all the contents into my car, so I nearly got away with it. I noticed it was a bit lop sided before it went, so the damage may already have been done. I did have the door open and I think the wind got inside even though the door was on the lee side. It was very quick, but I think I saw that leg lift just before the other end went. This takes me back to a previous thread about this tent only having four legs. No middle legs. I did make a set of middle legs but forgot they were not in the pole bag. First trip and all that. I think with middle legs it would have stayed up. Oh well. Every cloud has a silver lining they say. I was looking for some clear plastic sheeting to make a sail for my kayak, I'm sure the end window will do perfectly.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

We spent Wednesday 19th to Mothering Sunday at Blue Hills Camping Site - Cornwall. We had lovely weather during the daytime, a bit breezey down n the beach, but absolutely brill. And I tried out the "kitchen" we had asked questions on and it worked a treat. Will post picccies later. It even stood upto the winds one evening that treatened our wind break, actually breaking one pole.!!!
Evenings a bit chilly and would have been far worse without the heater. But beautiful site and hot water in abundance for showers and pot washing. Great views. Sea fog made us jump tho. we had just had tea and were discussing a last walk down to the beach with the dogs, when we looked up this very eeerie sight greeted us of fog wandering all over the place and as dense as pea soup.
Cheers
Karen
