Have had that yearning to pack up the gear and head to the hills, watching the good spell of weather mostly from indoors due to work commitments.
Both o/h and I , decieded that we would take holidays, starting today and have watched the web cams and met check weather for the Glencoe area all week.
The heart began to sink mid week when weather sites began suggesting that the weather would take a turn for the worse on Sunday / Monday,in Western Scotland.
The HORROR on o/h face when reading 60/70 mph winds , snow, heavy rain, and freezing tempetures , she was looking for a relaxing time in similar conditions to last week.
We now have a dilema,to take the tent, large one out the question, so smaller expidition tent only option or do we go to wigwams or hotel.
Both have experinced these conditions many times , and have equipment to handle these conditions ,but as the years roll by we were looking for a more relaxing experience.
Have both spent all week preparing gear and equipment,airing tents , sleeping bags, organising kit ect. Planning to wild camp in the Glencoe area,in one of our favorite spots.
Both 4 season campers for many years but know o/h was not expecting or wanting an expidition, but feel she is going because we were both so looking forward to the camping experience , but 5 days in the predicted conditions may be too much for o/h.
I am sitting here surrounded by gear awaiting o/h returning from work in late evening, I have my Personal outdoor log sitting open as i type this post looking at accomodation in the area that we have enjoyed before but cannot make a decision.
Camp or alternative accomodation ,or a mixture of the two ?
Oh the Scotland i love ! Four seasons in one hour , it always keeps us guessing.
