We managed to dry our friends diablo 600 draped over furniture in the conservatory (which is quite small) every so often we would shift it along a bit so another portion of the tent could dry out. Did make the place smell a bit fusty though.

spread it out in the flat as best you can whack heating up and go out to dinner come back turn tent about and go out to the pub come back turn tent and go to bed

If you pack any tent up wet and leave it for longer than about three days max you WILL end up with a mouldy tent. There is no "if" about this.

You don't have to test pitch it at a campsite though. Just nip down the local park or patch of waste ground for a couple of hours on the next sunny day.

Or you can dry it in even a small flat. Stick it in the bath and keep fluffing it up untill it's not dripping, then spread it out in the lounge over the furniture overnight. You'll probably have to do this over two or three nights total to make sure it's totally dry but that's life. You're going to have to have a contingency plan for drying it out eventually anyway, so why not start planning now?

As Val said, there are times you will have to take a wet tent home and it needs to be completely dried everytime so working out how to do it is a good idea.

If you know someone with a garage where you could hang it then that would be good. Or someone with a spare bedroom

We have no garden and have to dry cotton and TC tents in a spare bedroom. Quite a sight seeing a huge canvas thing strewn over all manner of items but hey it works ;)

I am not sure I would want to dry a tent with a hair dryer though

Students, So do  you have a hall or gym at college /UNI where you could erect the tent one evening perhaps? or on the playing fields, or in the grounds , on a fine day to check it over before you go?

Do you have a bannister in the flat you could hang the flysheet over to dry , or a fire escape staircase outside? It won't take too long to dry if its well spread out .

I have dried big tents draped over sofa and chairs overnight in the living room , and hung it higher so it aired more by jamming a guyline over the top of the doors too.
