Washing every day; not good for the environment or your health.
A survey of children found the most healthy (least infections, allergies etc.) lived on farms where they were exposed to a large amount of dirt.
Washing every day exposes your kids to soaps and detergents which can lead to allergies and unhealthy skin conditions.
After all, our evolution did not involve daily baths and showers so they are not necessary, unless you are a manufacturer of cleaning products, a power company or a water supply company.

i think one of the reasons my two DDs enjoy camping is knowing they won't have to have bath/shower!! they do like their baths but I think they find it quite fun just being able to have a "wet wipe wash" and brush teeth of course!!!
I must say though, after a long weekend camping, the first thing I do when we get home is run the bath for the girls, it's the dirt under the fingernails that's the hardest to get off!!!!

It is not so much the cleaning products that are bad for the environment. You also have to take into account the heating of water, the water (takes energy to deliver clean water), disposal of water, manufacturing of cleaning products, manufacturing of containers, transport of products, disposal of containers, reduced lifetime of heating components, washing of towels etc. etc.

ok so im clean but bad for the environment
but i do also throw out 3+ bags of recycling a week...so im trying :) but the thought of my family or home/caravan not being clean is rather awful ewww we also have beautiful skin no skin complaints from excess washing either :)
i must be perfect and an exception to the rule :)

Hi, I'm not criticising, just pointing out statistical data, that as you quite rightly say does not apply to you. The information applies to a population and within that population the effect will vary, just like height, number of tents, snoring volume etc.
Re recycling; try not to recycle or throw out anything i.e. try and reduce, then reuse, and then recycle. Difficult I know as most of us are still on the learning curve.

I don't think bathing a child every other day means that they aren't clean either. If my children get really mucky then they will get bathed again but I personally don't think they need it. My house is spotless, Im clean, I also recycle etc etc and my daughter hasn't been poorly, absent from nursery or school since she was 2 - so there are no hard or fast rules to this. Whether one has more or less antibodies to fight off infections or illness is debatable & the fact that they haven't been ill could well just be down to luck!
