Hi. Thanks for all your replies. My daughter has replaced Cbeebies with High School Musical DVDs (at least they're better songs to walk round Tescos humming!) and has now discovered CBBC, the older version of CBEEBIES!

This thread has made me think, when you're at home it is so easy to say "go and watch telly while I make tea / do ironing / go on UKCS" (oops!) etc. When we are camping I involve the kids more in whatever I'm doing and we have more fun together. At home my kids play out, do ballet, swimming etc but it's not the same. When we left a campsite after a week last August both of them cried! That's how I know that as a family, camping is the right holiday for us.

                                                    Karen.

Ive got kids from 3 to nearly 15, so we get CBeebies during school hours and then Hannah Montana, Zac and Cody etc after School. Then its my turn at 7pm for the Simpsons.

Remember the days of "Why dont you?", "Champion the wonderhorse" and of course the classic "White Horses". OMG im showing my age.

I agree with all though. Camping is the very best way to have a proper family holiday. My 3 kids absolutely love it. We have great fun with frisbees, tennis, football etc. Its just brill.

Karen,  I think that because at home, things like the ironing are there along with 1001 other jobs that need doing.     We are also more tied to time, therefore if we can get the kids to sit quietly while we do stuff then it is easier.
When we are camping these things don't matter, so we have the time to spend with out kids.

Yes at home I do spend time with my kids - but there are times when I will say, just watch telly while I wash up, and then we will do something together.

My kids progressed to CITV and I find that a whole lot worse.
I find there is alot of programmes on it that i think are unsuitable for children so I have to keep an eye on what they watch. Wheras on CBeebies I could leave them to it.

Fortunately as my youngest two are boys, and the ones usually holding the remote until Dad takes over in the evening, they have discovered Dave which has lots of 'boys' programmes about cars and racing. I can handle that!

I used to love Rentaghost and the Flumps and Bod when I was a bit younger.
On a Saturday it had to be Going lIve with Philip and Sarah.

We have done things like ICarly, which I loathe, Drake and Josh and some other American junk.     I now won't let them watch.    I hate the way the always show the intellegent kids as geeks, and boost up the thick ones, who are always perfect.

Fortunately they both, especially Alice, now love things like Animal Planet, which I feel that I can leave them to watch unsupervised if need be.

Please don't rub it in, my little one has just discovered the joy of Cbeebies and he is only 16 months old so have I really got another 5 years of it??????

I already know all the words to the theme tune for Big barn farm, balamory, Big cook little cook, and lazy town! (All programmes to old for him but he seems to love em!)

I don't let him watch much tv but the little bugger knows how to turn the tv on now and get the sky box on, he just flicks through the channels by pressing the box til its something he recognises.

Can't wait til we go away at easter and escape it,

I have a younger brother aged 10 (nearly 11) who loves watching Top Gear on BBC3 and Dave!

Might loose one but you'll soon gain another!

Ahh Cbeebies  we love it.

We actually told our 3 year old son ages ago that Lazy Town is rubbish (yes it is) so he always grabs the remote and turns the TV off when it comes on. He also hates Grandad in my Pocket (or whatever it is called) so always turns it off when that comes on. This gives us some peace for a while as he then asks us if it has finished so he can turn it back on again. This can sometimes give us up to 2 hours peace from Mr Tumble and Co.

Our 9 month old has not yet descovered the delights of Cbeebies yet.
