one tip is to make sure all the pole sections are fully slotted together, it only takes a few mm. on each section , to add enough extra length to the pole, to make it very difficult to insert the pin.
a touch of silicon spray on the ends of the poles helps them to slot in.
"son of a gun" pump spray is a good one , available from most good motor factors,

Sometimes, new poles need that extra push to make sure they really are together as far as they will go
Every millimeter lost makes it harder to ring and pin
You shouldnt need a peg puller to get them in
Someone else on this forum had the same problem last week and they gave their poles an extra push and it worked.
