Apologies if you have seen the below, but it is a bit lost in an old thread, so thought I'd start a fresh one. Thanks for the comments received on other thread.

Thanks to Billy, I managed to erect the Aspen for the 1st time yesterday (with the very able help of my OH).

We got it up up (ooh err) in just about 1 hour and it took about 40 mins to pack away.

We were very pleased with ourselves, but as stated by others... I would not have like to have tried it without seeing the video 1st!

Generally we are pleased with the tent, the only issue is that there is mildew patches in and around the inner tent.

Any advice on how to remove it without damaging the fabric would be appreciated.

I found the below on the net, any comments?

To remove mould or mildew, make a 5% solution of hydrogen peroxide. (125ml in 5 litres of water.) Sponge the solution on and, when the mould is gone, rinse off and wash the tent

Thanks

Hiya not sure if would do the same for canvas but my car was left for a long time over the winter and it had developed mould on the seatbelts and some of the seats, I was advised to use vinegar on it which I have done and it seems to have helped does stink a bit though!

You cant actually get rid of mould spots but you can stop it from spreading. That is where the H2O2 comes in

Leave the solution on for about 30 minutes then rinse if off with clean water and let it dry.

I had some mould/mildew marks on an underbed tent - sprayed it with Dettol Mould and Mildew remover and left it for a few minutes before rinsing off with the hosepipe and drying over the line - the marks disappeared completely. I haven't tried it on anything coloured but have used a weak solution of Milton to sponge off marks with quite good results.

I have used Dettol mould & mildew remover on many items on the past, even though the bottle does not recommend it.  I have had no problems with it and have had great results.  The inner tent would need a good soak in water afterwards though, depending how big your washing machine was (or even the larger size at the launderette - the one they use for kingsize duvets) you could give it a quick wash, otherwise a good rinse in the bath should do the trick.  Good luck

yep another one for dettol mould and mildew here, it probably weakens the fabric, but dont leave it on long and wash it off and it should be fine, it does contain bleach so dont get it on your clothes as it takes the colour straight out of dies cotton (but plastics are a different matter).

Spray a solution of 1 part Milton to 10 parts water.

It will kill off the mildrew and mould but will not get rid of the marks I am afraid
