What got you into camping?

With young kids, we can't afford the holidays abroad we used to do BC (Before Children!). We've always loved this country for holidays (done lots of walking trips to Wales, Cornwall, the Lakes etc) so we decided to try stick here.

We then had a disastrous holiday last year where I spent £800 for a week in a cottage and it rained for almost the entire time!! I thought that if we're going to stay in this country anyway, we can stay in a tent and then, if it's a washout, we can always come home early and not have lost a fortune.

What made you choose a tent?

To be honest, we wanted a caravan but couldn't afford it - we hope to get one in a few years time.

How long have you been camping?

First season...(had a couple of trips when I was a kid and in my 20s).

Did you have to convert anyone or were you converted?

Still trying to convert my wife and I'm doubtful of it working but she'll suffer to have some sort of break and because the kids will almost certainly like it.

 

 

What got you into camping? 

my parents always took us camping as kids, my wifes parents are also campers.

As my father always said "if you've got a tent you've always got a holiday" But seriously we like fresh air & freedom.

How long have you been camping?

About 44 years

Did you have to convert anyone or were you converted? lol

We were Born campers.

What got you into camping?

Went to the Dorset Steam Fair about six years ago and had a fab time in the beer tent.  One of us had to stay sober to drive home so decided to buy a cheap tent and camp the next year.

What made you choose a tent?

The fact it was cheap, fun and a bit of an adventure

How long have you been camping?

Six years as  a "grown up".  Off and on as a child.

Did you have to convert anyone or were you converted? lol

OH, Daughter and I love camping.  My parents are not sure, we keep trying though!

My mum bought a new Dyson (the one with the ball that goes round corners) from Argos and as part of the deal she got a £50 Argos voucher... Well anyway she very kindly gave the voucher to me. While searching through the catalogue wondering what to buy i spotted their camping starter pack and thought "what the hell lets buy a tent!"

My wife isn't as enthusiastic as me but i don't care what she says we always have a good laugh together... and i know she secretly can't wait for our next trip

What got you into camping? 

I've been camping on and off since childhood, when I wasnt I was usually in a static on some campsite looking with awe at people actually sleeping under canvas.  

What made you choose a tent?

It was a natural choice. It doesnt limit you on where you can travel to. Its reasonably easy to pack at a moments notice and go for an overnight pretty much anywhere too.

How long have you been camping?

As an adult, probably for the last 10-15 years with a gap in between due to health issues and new baby

Did you have to convert anyone or were you converted?

No-one, My wife loves camping, however isnt just as addicted as me. My kids took to it like ducks to water - funnily enough my youngest (3 this month) is probably the one who enjoys it the most. I'd love to convert my parents, and after seeing our Norfolk Lake, they are keen, but are worried about the fact they could snore for the UK if it were an olympic sport.

1. I had a one off camping trip with the youth club as a child thoroughly loved it. The only holidays we had when we were kids was  in a caravan in Wales in a field with a stream at the bottom,  Ducks wandering around the field, getting up in the morning, finding cows grazing and trying to remember not to step into the cow pats.At night listening to the rain while snug in bed. bliss.  listening to the dawn chorus. I want to build up fond memories for my child to reminise when an adult. 

2. Not foregetting that a friend suggested about going camping never looked back. As we had such great fun for all. My tent collection is starting to build up  hmmmm

3. We are into our 3rd season.

What got you into camping?
My mother was a Guider then a cub scout leader, so it was either be with my mother Troup/pack or staying with my father, no choice. that was up to i was 7. then joined cubs, diffent pack to my mother, so i would get to go camp with her pack or the one that i was with.

by the way i'm a third genation camper

 

What made you choose a tent?
As i don't have a car, it is either a hike tent that i can put in a rucksack or on the back of my push bike.

How long have you been camping?
about 30 years give or take

What got you into camping?
Friends recently convinced us to join them, hooked ever since!!  I used to go a lot with the guides, and I have vague memories of camping with parents when we were little......

What made you choose a tent?
the space in a tent is bigger than a caravn, cheaper to buy and easier to store!
Love the smell of a looked after tent too. Took a while to work out what we needed from our tent, but I think we have it right now.......possibly.......keep looking anyway!!

3rd year now.....

Did you have to convert anyone or were you converted?
Hubby very reluctant, still is but likes it when we are there! Kids were hooked like me from the start!!

I was converted and then had to convert hubby
