I would just like to say hello to campers on this forum. Being a first time camper, I have learned so much from the forums, tent reviews and site reviews and thank you all that contribute to help the "virgins" like me. One thing that has shocked me is the cost of "kit" after you buy the tent. I was aiming for a few "cheap" holidays this year, but will probably need a couple of years pay back! The important thing is family time, and I remeber the great fun I had with my parents in the caravan. I have booked a site in Bere Regis for Easter, only 10 mile away for our first expedition. I only hope I get all the kit in the car. Having only a small garden I haven't been able to erect the tent yet, but I am hoping that a friend that has a large garden will let me in his garden. I am praying that the weather forecast is wrong and that there is a reasonbly dry weekend, but I suppose that's what makes England, England and your savour those sunny weekends even more.

Any SunnCamp Vario Owners that would like to give any tips on erections (oh er) or general use of this tent, I would very much appreciate.

Welcome to the site and welcome to the world of camping.  As much as my family enjoy our holidays abroad, there is always something special about our camping trips that other holidays canot offer.  In the short term, camping is not a cheap alternative to other types of holiday.  The kit is expensive, though look around as man things can be picked up second hand.  I can almost gaurantee that what you buy in the first year, will be replaced by the third year as you discover other products and items which you hope will make your trips more comfortable. Just read many of the threads on this site and see how many are from seasoned campers still looking for that perfect addition to their set up, it becomes an obsession

Hi Merv welcome to the world of camping. We started last year and looking at kit prices it seems things have gone up in price a lot this year. We have a Sunncamp family vario 600 plus, it is a fantastic tent.We only got to use it twice last season but can't wait to get going this year. if yours is a tunnel like ours it will not be hard to put up. We found the best way is to lay it out then from the back push the rods through (don't pull them) once all the poles are in spread the tent out from the back. put the rear corner pegs and main rear guy rope in first then pull the tent forward until the tent is straight then peg the front guy and corners in then start pegging the sig making adjustments as you go. Make sure all panels are in line and flat to the ground if not you will have problems with your zips (make sure all zips are done up before puting poles in or pegging down). once you have pegged the sig down start with the guy ropes, i do the corners first then front and back then small side guys last.We have two poles inside ours that go in next (easy to forget them) then it just a case of getting the inside sorted with your bed pods and rest of your stuff.

I am sure once you have put it up a few times you will find another way round things but i hope some of the above will be of some help and happy camping.

heya merv welcome to thr forum, a lot of people will be very helpful and give you loads of information, some wanted some not, but most of all do what you feel is right for you and yours.  I hope you start posting here - its nice to see new faces posting :)
