Bought 2 small tents for £10 each in Wilkos - pitched them in the kids rooms and they slept in them for a few nights 2 years ago. Can't get the 12-man up in the house and the boys now share a room so that they can have a playroom so there's no room indoors anymore. Sadly we will just have to sleep in the garden again...

Last year we camped at the Glastonbury Festival......er, well actually we put the pop up tent up in the living room with the door facing the telly and watched it on BBC2!...and yes, we did 'stay' overnight!
Fantastic and I applaud you.

Don't take life too seriously, nobody gets out alive !!!.
I put my 2man eurohike tent up in my room at the YMCA in Bratislava to dry it out and effect a repair after a German tried park their caravan on top of my tent in prague the previous evening, I woke up in the night and smacked my head on their tow hook (I expanded my school boy vocab that night).
Len trott We applaud you too
------------- I own a caravan, that makes me a grown up, right?
Yes, I did last year when we cancelled our 5-day Easter break because of snow and high winds. Put the 2-man dome tent up in the living room and 'camped' for three days out of the five - it was brill!

Yes, I've tried out my smaller tents in the living room. As has been said, its not possible to bring a tent home and wait to try it in the garden, instant gratification, thats me!
Trick is not to put a pole through the tele.

Yes, I've put small tents up in the lounge to check them out - when the weather was too bad to pitch in the garden.
I also used two carpenters horses to hold up half the frame of our canvas tent in the lounge in January whilst I was adapting a Lichfield canopy to fit our Cabanon tent - I needed to shorten the width & lengthen the depth, so the best way to get it exact was to pin it while it was on the canopy poles which were attached to the half a frame
In February, when the lawn was really soggy, I also used planks of wood across the top of two beams in a bedroom, to hold the inner tent of our smaller Cabanon up, so that I could mark up a 'D' shaped door ready to cut & also to fit a no-see-um mesh door to the bedroom pod. It was much easier to get the shape of the door right while the pod was hanging as it does in the tent, rather than just guess the shape whilst cutting it on a table.
We regularly pitch in the garden and have done inside. We have a little 3 man tent for kids to play in and often camp in it over the winter. We've had our vango up in the garden all weekend. Is this not normal behaviour for campers?? lol
We've put up our Quechua base in the kitchen because we couldn't wait to see it open even though we'd seen them at Decathlon!
Our Dandy won't fit in the house but has been up all winter on the patio (the closest to the house that we could get it) I've slept in it a few nights with my 8 yr old daughter.
Got to say that we have pitched ours in the lounge quite a few times. As it's a canvas tent, and sometimes has to be packed away wet, we find it handy to pitch it in the lounge at night, whack the heating up and take it down dry in the morning. Being an inflatable tent (no poles) this is really convienient for us!
We have a small dome tent bought for playing in and that gets put up in the living room. Couldn't fit our camping tents in the house but if I could they would be up
