I think you can take the best ideas from a few of these thread to come up with the perfect way to pitch.break camp in the rain.

• You're gonna get wet so get used to the idea.
• Wear shorts/poncho/PJs - practical though visually questionable, so get used to the idea.
• Your tent will have more of your house than you do until it dries, so get used to the idea.
• To cope with this you'll need lots of gin from the first raindrop falling on the tent until the last drop evaporating from your living room/hallway/conservatory - so get yooshed to the i-idea, hic! . Who are you lookin at anyway!

When you have already put the coats and clothes in the car

wear a black bin bag

Make sure that the tent is on top of everything else in the boot, so that you don't get other equipment wet when you get the tent out. When you've pitched the tent, back the car up to the front door (especially good if your tent has a canopy) so that you can unload bedding, clothes etc. without getting them wet.

On the day of departure, back the car up to the tent door & pack everything into the boot. Leave a set of clean clothes, shoes, towel, wash-kit & dustbin bag, for each person, inside the car. Take the tent down, put the flysheet in a dustbin bag, and likewise the groundsheet too. Drive to the shower block, have shower, put on dry clothes & shoes, and put your wet clothes in dustbin bag which can be squashed into the car boot. This way, you are dry & comfortable for your journey home.

Use a footprint groundsheet, it stops you from having to roll/fold up the tent in mud!

We forgot ours last weekend and came home this morning with a very muddy tent.
