Is it ok to use a slow cooker off the EHU when camping? If I was to take one, and make a stew, can I be assured that leaving it plugged in all day would not cause any problems. Does the power fluctuate during the day, for instance if other campers plugged into the site supply. I need to know the food would cook at a constant temperature else would be at risk of food poisoning?
(Sorry to go on, but just trying to put my concerns into words)

I think your main concern would be if your circuit breaker were to trip, when you get back after your day out and find that it is'nt cooked at all because the power has tripped out, this has crossed our mind to, they don't use a lot of power and as long as the power is on the temperature should remain the same, however it would be wise to see if there is anyone here on the website who may be a little more of an expert than me.
Hi, I always take my slow cooker when camping and never had a problem with the electric "tripping". Even with the fan heater running at the same time. Really makes life a lot easier if you have a meal ready when you return at night
Slowcookers are very low wattage.Ours uses between 160 and 190 watts.
We put it on after breakfast and then when we come back in the afternoon,oh the smell is wonderful, and usually a queue of campers with plates
Seriously though they are brilliant, all the ingredients in one pot and ready to serve when you come back from your day out.
We have this one .
We bought one for camping at the back end of last year, and the day we used it, it was lovely to have a hot meal ready when we came home. Put everything in before we went out in the morning, and when we came back to the camper for lunch I added a cassarol mix. Went back out, and only had to serve when we got back for dinner. Great. Will be going with us all the time now.
We took one with us for the first time last year and it a great way of preparing a virtually effortless meal and - as has already been said - really good to come back to a hot and tasty meal in the evening.
They are good for lots of stuff, not just stews...
Slow cookers are a must......means you don;t have to spend ages cooking a meal at the end of a day because it's there ready! More time for relaxing. I was the envy of all our friends last year when we took ours for the first time.
As we arrived on the site, while the hubby was unloading the car, I got the EHU plugged it in, sorted out the slow cooker and got it running. By tea time we had our tea all ready and our friends were just starting cooking theirs!! Ha Ha
i use my slow cooker all the time when caming and at home, its a god send, i also do porridge in it to, so we wake up to a lovely smelling tent and hot breakfast ready to go, its lovley and yummy.
I prefer to spend my time with the kids instead of a camping cooker slave and with 3 very hungry children and myself being a single mum its a godsend.
Has anyone done jacket spuds in theirs? have heard you can do them in the sc.
