Hi all,

back from a weekends camping with the wife, was the 1st time getting the wife camping and my first trip in many years, but the tent I have £20 from tesco, although fantastic for the money and big for one person, soon came extremely small and cramped with a 2nd person,

the wife agrees she will do more camping, but she insists on a bigger tent with a living space, full headroom, new sleeping bag, table and electric supply for the hair straighteners

so has anyone got or seen the Icarus 500 and what are your thoughts as we will be on a budget.

Hello and welcome to the forum. First Post!!

Glad you enjoyed the camp - I wish I could get my OH to even try camping.

See this thread which is still active. It seems to be a weel-like tent by those who have used it.

Hi there & welcome to UKCS

I must admit I have never seen one of these tents, but if Vango make it then it will be of good quality.

There are many tents on the market as i'm sure you are aware, I personally have the Vango Yukon 800 which has ample of space for just 2 of us, but once you start putting things in like tables, chairs, clothing storage racks & other bits and bobs the space soon goes.

My advise would be make a list of things that you & the OH will be taking with you, and then decide on the size of tent you require, because as you have found out, theres nothing more uncomfortable than not having enough space when you are away for a week or so.

Go to view the tents when they are set up and try & visualise your belongings inside the tent, it certainly makes a big difference.

I would definitely recommend the Vango range without hesitation

Hope this helps

Ian

Hi,welcome

We bought one of these last weekend-looks to be an excellent short trip tent.It has fantastic head room in both the sleeping and living areas and is also so easy to put up and pack away,in my humble opinion i think it would be an ideal tent for you and your wife

Go buy

Hi I've seen it on display, I'm more into dome this one seems to be a tunnel type, but it looks spacious wouldn't mind it myself, I'm 5ft 2 and there seems to be good head clearance, I know my vango has coped with atrocious weather in the past!  I suppose you go with what you  think it will be ideal!!!  Its a shame that that we cant rent tents to test drive so to speak as you don't really know what one is like until you've camped in it!  It should be plenty big enough for the two of you.
