Hi dezzie
Sorry you didn't manage to get away. We took the caravan to Barnsoul - just outside Dumfries - to support friends on their first ever camping trip.
They managed one night then packed up. Awake until at midnight with the noise of the owls - brilliant sound to be kept awake with - then they got up at 0430 because (1) they were so cold and (2) they'd bought sleeping bags that were too small. Mummy style but so tight that he could only have his arms across his chest or outside the bag - neither suited and he couldn't roll around inside it.
More outdoor kit shopping coming up and they just might take our advice this time on the purchase and, even more importantly, on trying it out at home, first.
We stayed from Friday to this morning and had a brilliant time. No football but loads of wildlife and dog walking so still a great weekend. £64 including EHU for the four nights but we ended up coming home on the back of a breakdown truck - something about a universal joint on the Discovery's prop shaft . Thought we'd had a fairly cheap long weekend, especially having met up with my folks and been treated to lunch yesterday.
Cost of repair to car will probably mean a delay to us getting our tent, and probably also means we won't get away with the caravan in May.
Have a great time with Clyde playing Man United - how cool would that be?? Good luck to your son and hope he continues to enjoy and excel at the beautiful game .
