it misses out that most domes also have a steel frame making them much more sturdy and it doesn't mention much about the living areas. i hate tunnels for the way the bedrooms are organised... i would hate the kids to hear me making beautiful sweet music with my pork trombone
Pyramid-Sometimes known as Storm Tents. Correctly pitched will survive a close nuclear blast. Generally heavyweight pure cotton canvas. Cool in Summer, warm in Winter. The simpler ones have only 3 upright poles and are quick and simple to erect.
The sides are sloping like an old school "A" frame but are surprisingly light and roomy due to the height of the pole.

we like tunnel tents but do not want to sleep next to the kids so the outwell indi 8 and sun valley 8 are great for us as we get all the benefits of a tunnel plus a seperate bedroom. I like all the windows as we had a dome and a khyam xxl and found them a bit claustrophobic when zipped up in the rain.
i like tunnel tents too i have had a coleman dome tent can t remember what model but i didn t like as you could not stand in the bedroom pod so i sold it and got a tunnel tent.

My De Wit Barbados arrives on Thursday and I am counting the hours until I can put it up in the garden.
After I viewed a pitched Cabanon Guadeloupe I fell for the pyramids. They really do look retro but in a much cooler way than the frame tents (which have their own advantages, he quickly added as the angry mob descended).
They do have a decent amount of room for the footprint.
Anyway thats wasted another few minutes until my tent arrives.

Aw it is almost Thursday :)
Never thought of pyramids as retro. They are common here, lots of people have them. This is a country of cotton and pyramids lol
Hope you are going to post pics for us on Thursday afternoon ?
We prefer tunnels and have just got a steel pole one, see gallery pic, loads of head height in porch, living area and bedrooms. Is much heavier with metal poles though, but hope it will stand up to string winds better than fibreglass poles.
Tunnels again. On our second Outwell tunnel & sturdy as hell (though all tunnels need proper pegging at ends for max stability in high winds).
Moved from big dome/pod because we wanted bedrooms we could stand up in and also a reduced pitch time, though now the move by some sites to surcharge/ban big sprawly tents would be an added factor.
