Hi, can anyone help on what route I should take next.

Last August I brought the windbreak from Tamworth Camping, I still have proof of Purchase, this Easter was the first opportunity I have had to use it, when I tried to put it up, it has rust marks and a hole on the crease marks from where is was folded up.

I contacted Tamworth Camping who I brought it from and they have refused to replace it because they say I can not prove I have never used it before Easter, my response although perhaps a little silly was you can not prove I have, If you look at it you can tell it has never been used.

I then contacted Royal Leisure direct and they can not help because they are only the supplier and my warrenty is with Tamworth.

Any legal perople out there that can advise.

I'm not a legal eagle, but I suspect there's not a lot you can do about this if Tamworth Camping won't be reasonable, since you are out of the returns period for faulty goods.

You know what, this is just the kind of situation which determines a good retailer from a not so good one. We bought an item from Waudbys last season, never used it and one of the clips broke on first outing last week. A relatively minor thing, but niggling at the end of the day. We contacted Waudbys,who sent the nicest email by return, saying they would be 'more than happy to replace it.'

So, the moral of this story is that you can only determine good customer care when there is a problem to sort...

Thanks Liddenham, I must admit I am kicking myself, I should have looked at it,  to check it was okay, but when we got our Tent from them is was fantastic, so.............. I just assumed the windreak would be okay.

OH has got the bit between his teeth now and has written a very............how do I put this........ snotty email, so I will let you know how, we get on

How many of us have bought stuff and not checked it over straight away? I know I have, when there is other stuff going on.

You are right though, it would be easy enough for Tamworth Camping to see if it had been used or not, if they had a mind to be helpful and fair...

Dunno if you've sorted this yet? If you want to pursue this, try contacting consumer advice, they will tell you your rights. I've used them a couple of times with electrical items and they are very helpful, they tell you the bits the retailers don't want you to know!

It wouldn't surprise me if this item had already been returned from someone else.
