We have always used airbeds on previous trips but our friends use camp beds.

They are about sell their camp beds and have offered them to us first. i am unsure as to if they are better than the airbed, as I like to be warm and comfortable and I am worried about commiting to them and ending up very cold and grumpy every night while we are away (I hate being cold!!!)

Any thoughts please would be great????

Its Thermarest self inflating mattresses for us every time. They are so comfortable and warm. Best thing ever !! Yvonne

I wont ever use an aibed again unless it's somewhere I know its going to be hot as they are much cooler than my lovely, comfy, easy to set up, Robens self inflating mat.

It's foam camping mats for me!  Keep intending to upgrade to inflatables but haven't ever got round to it.  I'm probably the opposite of most campers on here, I only ever take the bare essentials and have the same stuff I've been using for years!

We have a double height, double airbed, if that makes sense?  A fleece blanket or two on the flock top of the bed, then the sleeping bag and we're warm and cozy.  The joy of the double height is that it's not quite such a long way up out of it in the morning!

Ours is 215 x 160cm so that affected our choice of tent as we wanted to make sure there was no danger of it touching the sides of the inner and pushing them against the fly as happened in our Diablo (around 4 years ago so Diablo bedroom pods may have changed since then).

Now settled on the Bear Lake 6 which will leave room for dog bed and dressing area as the main bedroom is 240 x 220cm.

Friends went their first ever trip a week ago with camp beds and only survived the one night due to the cold.  Don't think their sleeping bags were up to it but I did wonder about the cold air circulating below them.  I know it's not warm air inside an air bed but at least it's not going anywhere.
