We have always used airbeds on previous trips but our friends use camp beds.

They are about sell their camp beds and have offered them to us first. i am unsure as to if they are better than the airbed, as I like to be warm and comfortable and I am worried about commiting to them and ending up very cold and grumpy every night while we are away (I hate being cold!!!)

Any thoughts please would be great????

Well, if they are offering them at a bargain price then you can't go wrong with buying them - if you don't like them just go back to using the air bed - have a test run either with the tent in the garden or just one night at home, inside.

I wont ever use an aibed again unless it's somewhere I know its going to be hot as they are much cooler than my lovely, comfy, easy to set up, Robens self inflating mat.

Keep your airbeds and put them on top of the camp beds, that's what we do, lovely, warm and comfy with storage space underneath - you can't go wrong!

we had campbeds with airbeds on top but have now gone back to just airbeds. i found the cold air underneath the campbeds used to make it colder and damper. we used them with our cheap proaction tent. when we bought our sunncamp tents, we no longer had room for them in the car so tried without, we were much warmer and with insulation underneath the sleeping bag we are even warmer, so have never gone back to them. actually, i ought to sell them as they are taking up too much room.

Thanks for your comments. I think we will stick with the airbeds, - although we might update ours - there is so much choice around now

I've just ordered two single coleman comfort air-beds, because I've heard such good things about them from this site.  Decided to go for 2 singles instead of a double cos I'm 5 8 and other half is 6 1 - but now realised can't fit two single in one pod - the price to pay for a bit of comfort I suppose!  Anyway we're off this coming bank holiday week-end for a couple of nights at Manston - so will give them a test drive then.

Airbed for me, I'd probably roll off a camp bed.

If you have room I can really recommend those folding foam fold out bed/chairs - warm comfy and silent. Have tried air beds which tend to be cold and to me feel sort of unstable and camp beds which creek under my excessive weight.

It's foam camping mats for me!  Keep intending to upgrade to inflatables but haven't ever got round to it.  I'm probably the opposite of most campers on here, I only ever take the bare essentials and have the same stuff I've been using for years!

We have a double height, double airbed, if that makes sense?  A fleece blanket or two on the flock top of the bed, then the sleeping bag and we're warm and cozy.  The joy of the double height is that it's not quite such a long way up out of it in the morning!

Ours is 215 x 160cm so that affected our choice of tent as we wanted to make sure there was no danger of it touching the sides of the inner and pushing them against the fly as happened in our Diablo (around 4 years ago so Diablo bedroom pods may have changed since then).

Now settled on the Bear Lake 6 which will leave room for dog bed and dressing area as the main bedroom is 240 x 220cm.

Friends went their first ever trip a week ago with camp beds and only survived the one night due to the cold.  Don't think their sleeping bags were up to it but I did wonder about the cold air circulating below them.  I know it's not warm air inside an air bed but at least it's not going anywhere.

We also have a double height, double sized aerobed....It is fab!!! We put an old quilt on the floor, aerobed, double sleeping bag and a faux fur blanket on the top. We are as warm as toast and often throw the top balnket off. I would recommend it to anyone as when you get dressed in the morning its like sitting on your own bed at home ...
