i everyone ....over the last 5 years the wifes really took to camping ( much to my great pleasure) admitedely when we go away we do take everything including the kitchen sink with us, you know ..the queen size airbed .. the porta potti , dvd player etc. but we like our home comforts too much . we have at the moment a 2008 vango orchy 600 but find once eveythings in the living area its a bit cramped so we have just purchased a new vango extention with zipped door for it in which to cook and eat in and use as storage space for our next trip in may for 5 days ( though im trying to push it to 7 ) . anyway i was looking to buy the new 2009 vango colorado 800 to use for longer trips but do you think it would be a bit too big for 2 people. i like the idea of it having  3 porches,  with the main entrance to throw your wet gear in or boots and the extra pods for using as storage space for a wardrobe or porta potti as well as sleeping . its a nice tent and would be ideal if any friends wanted to come  and stay over also i was thinking of putting the extention on the main entrance to use as a kithen and using the entance as another room would that work ..anyway replies would be greatly appreciated very much...stewey

So long as you're able to put up the tent and it'll fit on a pitch, you should get the tent you want and if that means an 8 berth tent for 2 of you, then that's fine.  You're paying for it, it's your holiday so you should be as comfortable as possible.

Go for it!

I agree with Feecamp.  If you like space and comfort then get the tent that suits you.

Are there any favourite campsites that you visit regularly or are likely too?  Phone those and check that they will take your preferred tent.  I'm sure that you can find a tent that will fit on a pitch that is big enough for you.  If you know what the pitch size is 1st you can then go tent shopping for one that will fit.

I have an older model Colorado 1200 DLX, which has three of the bigger 4-man pods. It's a wee while since I had it out so I may have this wrong but if I were you I'd have a look at it out to check the heights of the pods. They may slope too much to really be practical to use a big airbed, portapotti or wardrobe in. I recall that I can stand up in ourpods at the front ((I'm 5'4") but that the roof sloped down to meet the airbed at the rear. Of course the redesign of the tent may have given you a little extra head hight at the bigger pods but looking at the schematics for the 2009 800 dlx, they have a sharply sloping small pod. The bigger pod will have the same extra pole at the rear as the old 1200 dlx but it will still be a sharp slope. Remember too this will mean the rear doorway will be quite low, and slope back into the tent.

The 800 has a big footprint of 5.90 x 7.10 m, btw. You'd need a jumbo pitch on a C&CC site.

Nice to see the old Colorado still living on though, albeit with a fairly radical facelift! It was always a great classic tent.

I think it's entirely up to you.  We have a Vermont XL which is huge, there is only the three of us and our dog.  Our neighbours on site last weekend asked us if we were doing bed and breakfast!  We like our space and our heater.  It's your holiday and you should do what you need to and make sure you enjoy it.

We do like lots of room....

Better to have too much room rather than not enough! Go for it, long as its not too hard to put up, thats the only prob with some of the bigger tents, they are hard work!

We started with a 4 berth for the 3 of us, then 4+2 still for one adult and two brats, we now have 9 berth so one pod each, and no-way could you fit 9 in it and be comfortable, so get the biggest you can is my advice.
