just pitched my tent at the campsite and the area is full of flies. A bit like storm flies. Its an overflow area as all pitches have been taken, so this part has not been used in winter. Anyway tent is now full of flies and being an unexperienced camper has anyone got tips on how to get rid of so many from the tent or is it the good old fly spray and dust pan and brush. P.s also paying same price as everyone else!!
To avoid this always keep your doors closed but with the mesh screens to allow the air to circulate. We must do this in Scotland to avoid midges on some sites. Fly spray can ruin your tent.
Tru burning a citrus candle can sometimes help. Why not ask the Site - likely to be a problem they've had before. Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay.
------------- Why yearn for tomorrow when you can have chocolate today.
I would suggest the swatter thingy, as the other type only work at night as flies are not attracted to ultraviolet light unless its the only form of light, midges however are attracted at all times.
I use Elephants feet!, those coils about the size of a CD, your not meant to use them in the tent, but if you keep out whilst there working all will be OK, then place a couple near the entrance, you can get the special tin holders for about £2, once you have lit the coil you should get a good few hours usage, also when we go out for the evening, I always give the tent a good spray inside with wasp/fly killer, which seems also to do the trick.
